The Fed cut interest rates in its September meeting, which is the first cut in years. Experts say not to rush to action with your cash savings — but start doing some research. But, the Fed finally cut interest rates by 50 basis points at its meeting on September 18 — the first rate cut since March 2020. This is true now, but it will be just as true if the Fed continues to drop the federal funds rate in the future. However, interest rate increases could lead to having to sell the note on the secondary market at a loss.

Other times, employers have the power to set workplace norms, and workers are better off keeping their heads down. The cyclical nature of shifting workplace power does swing back and forth between employers and employees, but not automatically. An initial DNA test on remains believed to be those of Joseph Couch, the suspect in the Interstate 75 shootings, was inconclusive, but an autopsy confirmed the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, state officials said. The soft tissue DNA test was “inconclusive due to extreme decomposition of the body,” and a further DNA test with material extracted from bone will be completed, the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet said in a news release. The remains were found in deep brush by a highway exit in Laurel County, which is where London is and where the shootings occurred, state officials said. A couple livestreaming the search for Couch's body helped in the effort and the discovery, state police said. The DNA test from bone is expected to begin Friday and take 24 to 48 hours, the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet said.

Surveys indicate that health care is among the top priorities for voters in the November presidential election. Former President Donald Trump has given little detail about his health care vision; his running mate, JD Vance, has suggested deregulation. Each country was graded on five categories: access to care, care process, administrative efficiency, equity and health outcomes. “For far too many people, high-quality medical care is out of reach.”Dr. Adam Gaffney, a critical care physician at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Massachusetts, pointed out that the U.S. differs from the other countries in one critical area: universal health care coverage. Thursday’s report also listed solutions to the country’s health care problems, including lowering the cost of care and expanding access to coverage.
