As the founder of Rebag, a designer handbag resale site, I've kept a close eye on the resale value of sought-after luxury goods. That's well above other major designer names — like Chanel, for example, which boasts an average value retention of 87%. Birkins have an average value retention of 96%, while the Kelly averages 108%. For example, the Nigo Keepall Bandoulière bag has a 119% average value retention, while the Louis Vuitton x NBA Ball in Basket Bag has a 147% average value retention. Up 12 percentage points from 2021, the brand's average value retention is 87%, although several bags exceed 100%.

Fashion rental apps offer users a way to make passive income from the clothes in their closets. Londoner Camille B. has earned over £18,000, or about $22,000, by renting out her designer items on the apps. It was a pleasure to wear, cost $349.25 AUD, or $233, and I've rented it multiple times already, including to someone who wanted the dress for her wedding. THE FIRST TIME Racil Chalhoub, 39, a womenswear designer from Beirut, decided to buy men’s clothing, she was standing in a sea of denim at Abercrombie & Fitch in Los Angeles. This was the early aughts—when many women’s jeans were so snug and low-cut that visible thongs were considered a viable accessory. But Ms. Chalhoub craved loose, roomy hip-huggers. “Everything for women was fitted or flared,” she said. Ms. Chalhoub even launched her own women’s tuxedo brand, Racil, in 2015.

The 48-year-old New Yorker now works full time selling clothes, shoes, and bags exclusively through the reseller platform Poshmark. She say that she "loves" what she does and that the decision to leave her former employer "forever changed" her life. She says the work of shopping, sanitizing, photographing, listing, packaging, and shipping could make it feel like a "24/7 job." She does everything by herself and says she typically works at least 12-hour days, shipping items every day except Sunday. Finally, Murray says that while one doesn't necessarily have to quit their job to be successful on Poshmark, they do have to "go full time mentally."
The hip-hop community calls for change, but there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight to the violence. So I think hip-hop is the scapegoat for a lot of things.”Greg Yuna and Lenny Santiago. Some of those murders are now being explored in a new WE tv’s docuseries “Hip Hop Homicides,” which looks at the shooting deaths of rap artists including Pop Smoke, XXXTentacion and King Von. In some cases, money exacerbates some of these things.”Although Lathan believes there should be more accountability in hip-hop from those who create the violence, rap artists can’t always be blamed for the violence that surrounds them or happens to them. Caz said that in those days hip-hop music was used as a form of escape.
Carlotta Montanari started her horse training company, Four Legs on Set, three years ago. So I formed my horse training company for Hollywood productions, Four Legs on Set, almost three years ago. I had no idea my horse training company would become such a great success. If we're having a photo shoot, the production has to be mindful that horses need to shift their balance, and walk and move. Horse training in Hollywood requires a strong love of horses, because it's not an instant cash-inOwning production horses is a big decision and responsibility.

Luxury brands like Prada and Versace have launched pet collections in the past couple of years. Thirty percent of pet owners said they spent more on their pets and pet supplies in 2020 than in 2019. Courtesy of Anya HindmarchHindmarch's short-lived project is just the latest sign of the opportunities available in the upscale pet market, especially for dog owners. In summer 2021, Versace expanded its homeware collection to cater to pets, no doubt inspired by Donatella's own Jack Russell, Audrey. A couple walk with Hermes shopping bags as they leave an Hermes store in Paris March 21, 2013. Hermes (HRMS.PA) and Pernod Ricard (PERP.PA) both said they will continue to raise prices, after beating expectations in the July-September quarter. Mainland China also saw a strong rebound after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, although some restrictions have since been reimposed. PRICE RISESThe world's biggest luxury group LVMH (LVMH.PA) last week kicked off the earnings season with forecast-beating sales -- and no signs of a let-up in demand. The results from Pernod and Hermes bode well for beauty giant L'Oreal (OREP.PA) and Gucci-owner Kering (PRTP.PA), which both report results later on Thursday.
"We will probably have price hikes between 5 and 10 percent," Hermes executive vice president of finance Eric du Halgouet told reporters on Thursday, blaming increased costs and currency movements. Hermes, which has waiting lists for its prized $10,000-plus handbags and limits production to maintain exclusivity, increased prices by around 4% this year and by 1.5-2% on average in previous years. That compares with double-digit price hikes at Chanel. "For the moment, we don't see any sign of slowdown in any of our markets,” said du Halgouet. The Hermes figures suggest that "high-end global luxury goods demand has yet to normalise," said Luca Solca, analyst at Bernstein.
The eight people trapped in the Hideaway Village motel realized that they may die as geysers shot up through the buckling floors and the deadbolts holding their doors shut snapped like toothpicks under Hurricane Ian’s assault. After the motel crashed and the roof above the women gave way, a motel employee next door pulled them out of the water. The wrecking of the Hideaway Village motel, pieced together through interviews with survivors, reveals how the storm’s death count could have easily been much higher than 135 people, according to an NBC News tally. Hurricane Ian tore the roof off the Hideaway Village motel. But on Sept. 27, the women arrived at the Hideaway Village motel, full of energy, under the impression that the storm’s threats were overstated, Maston said.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced on Friday next year's Met Gala theme: a celebration of the works of the late German designer Karl Lagerfeld. It is followed by the institute's annual spring exhibition, this year titled "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," which will be on view from May 5 through July 16. Lagerfeld spent the majority of his life in the fashion world, with his first designs debuting in the 1950s. This past year's theme, "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," focused on American fashion throughout the decades. Funding for this year's event comes from Chanel and Fendi, as well as from Karl Lagerfeld and Condé Nast.
Mona Mejia "Everything was selling really quickly"In 2015, Mejia's family was in need of additional income to supplement her husband's pay. When she began listing more items, she noticed that "everything was selling really quickly" and real money was trickling in. It wasn't until roughly a year ago, however — when she started selling on livestreams through Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, that her business really took off. After working through her closet, Mejia took her earnings and went to yard sales and clearance sections to look for bargain products she could buy and resell. Despite discounting, she says she's able to maintain high levels of profitability by only selling items she bought at especially cheap rates.
LONDON—The booming market for secondhand luxury goods is creating a dilemma for makers of high-end handbags, fashion and jewelry: Join the trend, or ignore it. Secondhand luxury isn’t new, but its popularity is surging. Steep price hikes by prestigious brands like Chanel SA are driving some luxury buyers to look for less expensive used items. Others are seizing on secondhand goods’ sustainability bona fides: A used pair of designer jeans doesn’t cost any more of the planet’s resources to make.
Instead, she singles out a pair of square-toe shoes by French brand Courrèges. The digital-trend tracker Semrush notes a 2,500% jump in web searches for “square toed shoes for women” between July 2021 and July 2022. Meanwhile, the online shopping platform Lyst features over 24,500 square-toe women’s shoes including a faux-leather update of Ms. Cleveland’s Courrèges pair and other Judy Jetson-ish riffs from Dries Van Noten and Rupert Sanderson. The trend also points to ballet’s pointe shoes, which inspired recent versions by Sandy Liang, Mansur Gavriel and Khaite. Actress Selma Blair, meanwhile, says her square-toe loafers from Salvatore Ferragamo are “the grandma shoes that I love.” (She currently sports them with cuffed khakis in her new Gap campaign.)
