Federal Reserve interest rate cuts may help turn the tide for commercial real estate. "Lower interest rates are not a magic bullet, but less restrictive monetary policy lays the groundwork for a commercial real estate recovery," wrote senior economist Charlie Dougherty. "Decreased long-term interest rates appear to be easing upward pressure on cap rates and slowing declines in property valuations. "That said, reduced interest rates should prevent distress from spreading and shorten the hurdles coming down the road," he added. Gimple specifically likes single-asset, single-borrower CMBS and commercial real estate collateralized loan obligations.

The good times for Amazon may be over for now, according to Wells Fargo. "Amazon is likely still a solid margin expansion story over the long term," he added. "But as Amazon management has said multiple times, margin expansion won't be linear. Jim Cramer counters Amazon and Apple downgrades

CNBC's Jim Cramer told investors not to get caught up in downgrades or general trading on Wall Street, reiterating his stance that there's merit to sticking with solid companies even if their share prices fluctuate. "If you listen to the downgrades, though, you'll never recover with it." Cramer said Monday had a "ridiculous plethora of sell-side downgrades," where the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.94%, the S&P 500 shed 0.96% and the Nasdaq Composite declined 1.18%. Although he acknowledged that Amazon is facing some hurdles, he disagreed with Wells Fargo's downgrade of the stock. "But if you're managing your own money, you should not be listening to all of this trading advice.

US stocks fell Monday as bond yields and oil prices moved higher. The rise in oil prices and solid September jobs report has revived inflation concerns. Friday's release of the September jobs report sparked the move higher in yields. AdvertisementMeanwhile, oil prices continued to surge on Monday, rising by about 4% as tensions in the Middle East continued to simmer on the first anniversary of the Hamas-led attack against Israel. The rise in oil prices and the stronger jobs report are fanning fears of a potential rebound in inflation, which would mean fewer rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.

A couple of analyst downgrades are making the rounds Monday on megacap stocks that rarely see ratings cuts: Apple and Amazon. At Jefferies, analysts downgraded Apple to a hold but increased the price target to $213 apiece from $205. It also presents a problem for investors who see the downgrades as a reason to sell some shares. After all, you'll be hard-pressed to find companies anywhere more in charge of their own destinies than Apple, Amazon — or any of the Super Six (Meta, Nvidia, Alphabet, Microsoft). Apple and Amazon aren't where they are because of luck, but rather because they make their own luck.

CNBC's Jim Cramer reviewed next week's top market-moving action, highlighting new consumer price index data and a slew of earnings reports as the season begins, including ones from Delta , Domino's and several major banks. The labor department will release September's CPI report on Thursday, and Cramer said investors who want a rate cut are hoping for a cool number. Friday brings the producer price index report, and like the CPI, this data will be a metric for the Fed's next decision, Cramer said. Big ticket financial earnings will also come out that day, including Wells Fargo , JPMorgan and Blackrock . He said banks represent the least expensive group on the market, and investors should use any weakness to buy them.

CNN —September’s jobs report, due out Friday morning, is expected to show that the US labor market has slowed somewhat but remains on solid footing. While September’s employment data is expected to stay relatively tame, the same can’t be said for the October jobs report, which is set to be released on November 1, just days before the presidential election. The strikes and hurricane-related effects “are not going to permanently alter the trajectory of the labor market; but September is probably our last clean reading on the labor market for a while,” Ryan Sweet, chief US economist at Oxford Economics, told CNN earlier this week. The August jobs report, which showed better-than-expected estimated 142,000 payroll gains and a drop in the unemployment rate, went a long way to quell those fears. It showed that the jobs market is in “stasis,” Wells Fargo economists wrote in a note issued Tuesday.
