There's a new one-of-a-kind opportunity available to Disney's biggest fans. Walt Disney's famous "Storybook Mansion" has hit the market, with the Los Angeles home available to rent for $40,000 per month. Disney himself lived in the 6,400-square-foot mansion for 18 years from its construction in 1932 until 1950, a period during which he oversaw the creation of classic films like "Bambi" and "Snow White." "This property was chosen by Walt Disney as the place to raise his family, and also coincided with a transition of Disney Studios from fledgling enterprise toward entertainment giant," listing agent Chase Campen said in a statement.

Paul McCartney has collaborated with countless artists over his 60-year career, from Rihanna to Michael Jackson. In an interview with the BBC's "Best of Today" this week, the 80-year-old revealed that AI has made it possible to release one "last Beatles record." McCartney said that during the creation Peter Jackson's 2021 Beatles docuseries "The Beatles: Get Back," they found an old demo tape that John Lennon had recorded. Through the use of artificial intelligence, they were able to start the process of taking the decades-old recording and turning it into something usable. "[Peter Jackson] was able to extricate John's voice from a ropey little bit of cassette," he said.

Over the course of his decades-long career, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has learned a thing or two about success. He's a Grammy-winning rapper, successful businessman and a prolific actor who stars and produces in both TV and film. "One of the unwritten laws of power is to appear not to need anything," Jackson said. Jackson met movie producer Avi Lerner when he was already a millionaire from his rap career. Jackson has since produced dozens of TV shows and films — like "Power" and "Power Book II: Ghost" — with plenty more on the way.

A 14-year-old artist got to live his dream when the filmmakers behind the latest "Spider-Man" movie asked him to work on the film. Preston Mutanga made waves earlier this year when he shared a video he made recreating the trailer for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" in the style of LEGO. The 2-minute clip went viral, finding its way to "Spider-Verse" writers and producers Chris Lord and Phil Miller. "It blew us all away, including some of the best animators in the world." When it was decided that the multiverse-hopping film would be adding a LEGO-themed sequence, the filmmakers reached out to Mutanga to offer him the chance to animate it.

Astrud Gilberto, the Brazilian singer, songwriter and entertainer whose off-hand, English-language cameo on "The Girl from Ipanema" made her a worldwide voice of bossa nova, has died at age 83. "The Girl from Ipanema," the wistful ballad written by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes, was already a hit in South America. In a 2002 interview with friends posted on her web site, Astrud Gilberto remembered her husband saying he had a surprise for her at the recording studio. "When we were finished performing the song, Joao turned to Stan, and said something like: 'Tomorrow Astrud sing on record… What do you think?' Astrud Gilberto sings "The Girl from Ipanema" in a light, affectless style that influenced Sade and Suzanne Vega among others, as if she had already moved on to other matters.

Silvana Estrada: “Milagro y Desastre”I always appreciate Jon Pareles keeping an ear out for new artists from a vast variety of cultures and musical traditions. Usually known for her sparse, guitar-driven folk songs, “Milagro y Desastre” — miracle and disaster — is something new for Estrada: a song composed largely with looped, layered fragments of her own voice. (See also: her recent, charming cover of Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner.”) The cooed, percussive notes that provide the song’s rhythmic backbone remind me a bit of Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman,” but Estrada’s impassioned singing and distinct ear for melody ultimately take “Milagro y Desastre” somewhere unique. Rob Moose featuring Phoebe Bridgers: “Wasted”What a name: Rob Moose. Blur: “The Narcissist”Regular Amplifier readers will know about this one already — in its honor, I composed an entire newsletter featuring some of my favorite Blur songs.

[1/5] Cars belonging to the Palmen collection are displayed in the warehouse in which they were stored over the last 40 years, ahead of Friday's auction, in Dordrecht, Netherlands May 25, 2023. He never showed off his cars but rather kept them a secret, scared people might steal them, Nico Aaldering from Gallery Aaldering said. Palmen could afford to buy the cars thanks to smart investments, including in real estate, said Hans van der Pluijm from Classic Car Auctions, which is running the auction. "It's a collection you will probably never find in this condition, in this quantity again," said Hans van der Pluijm from Classic Car Auctions. Indeed, restaurant prices have risen faster than grocery prices over the last year, according to data from the Department of Labor. To rank the grocers, Placer.ai measured the "visit share" each retailer received in April. "Visit share" is the percentage of total visits that a retailer received during a given time frame compared to the other retailers also being analyzed. Kroger, with its more than 1200 locations in 16 states, was the top visited supermarket chain in the country, capturing 9.1% of the visit share in April. These are the 10 most popular supermarket chains in the country.
Don't expect to be able to order a block of Trader Joe's Unexpected Cheddar or a bag of Chili & Lime rolled corn chips to your door any time soon. The latest episode of the popular supermarket's in-house podcast, "Inside Trader Joe's," explains why the chain doesn't offer online shopping like competitors Aldi, Publix and Kroger, and is instead happy to keep running its business the way it has since it was founded in 1967. Building out a robust delivery operation would involve creating a network of warehouses to store products, as well as a delivery system to get those products to customers' doors. For a brand that closely watches its bottom line to keep prices low, it's a non-starter. "We love being a real place for a whole bunch of reasons and not just because it's where we started," co-host Matt Sloan said.
"Ted Lasso" became a global sensation in 2020 partly because of the kindness of its main character. But behind the scenes, being nice wasn't just a suggestion — it was a rule. In his commencement address to Sarah Lawrence College graduates on Friday, "Ted Lasso" co-creator Bill Lawrence broke down the No. 1 rule he gives every new actor and writer he hires: "Don't be an ass----." Lawrence, who also created "Scrubs," told the class of 2023 that he is blunt with his employees about the expectations he has for the way they treat each other, as well as other people, on set.

"My apartment was furnished by Ikea when I was on the 'Housewives of New York,'" she said. In the years following her "Housewives" debut, Frankel started and sold her Skinnygirl Cocktails brand for a reported $100 million. "I was always terrified, because you don't spend money you don't f---ing have."
Before he was an Emmy-winning actor for his critically acclaimed "Barry," Bill Hader struggled to get the career he wanted. Instead, it's been a matter of being in the right place at the right time. In a recent interview with the New Yorker, Hader recalls how he moved to Los Angles in 1999 with aspirations of one day being a director. He spent most of his 20s working as a production assistant, a postproduction assistant and then as an assistant editor on a reality TV show. The "Superbad" actor decided to take improv classes on the recommendation of a friend, and quickly saw his fortunes turn around.
When he was just 25 years old, baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez signed a 10-year, $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers. The deal not only set A-Rod up for life from a financial standpoint, it also helped him create a valuable relationship with legendary investor Warren Buffett. In an interview with Bloomberg's David Rubenstein this week, A-Rod said he decided to cold-call the investor — who is 45 years his senior — after learning that Berkshire Hathaway was insuring his contract. "I reached out to him and I said "Warren, now that we're business partners, maybe I can come out and see you in Omaha,'" Rodriguez explained. "I said 'I'll be there, 'cause we're not going to the playoffs,'" Rodriguez replied.
With an Oscar-winning career spanning more than 80 films over four decades, Tom Hanks knows a thing or two about making movies. But when it came time for the 66-year-old to sit down and write his first novel, Hanks needed help. Despite employing the productivity boosting technique while writing his book, Hanks described his desire to write as nothing more than the pursuit of another creative outlet. "I just do writing," Hanks said. Hanks' novel will be released on May 9.
Star Peloton instructor Tunde Oyeneyin keeps a busy schedule. In addition to teaching fitness classes, the 37-year-old is a podcast host, author and Nike athlete ambassador. Needless to say, she knows a thing or two about burnout. Starting her day by focusing on herself rather than her professional responsibilities allows her to "gain control of my conscious mind."
