30 members of the House of Representatives have announced they won't be running for reelection. AdvertisementWhen the 118th Congress concludes in January 2025, the House of Representatives will be losing at least 375 years of congressional experience. As of Monday, 30 members of the House of Representatives — with each member averaging around 12 years, or 6 terms in office — have said they're not running for reelection. Of the 30 representatives leaving the House, 19 are members of the Democratic Party, and 11 caucus with the Republican Party. At least four House members have cited a desire to spend more time with family as the reason they're leaving office.

Cairo Santos made a 30-yard field goal with 10 seconds left, his fourth of the night after a miss on the opening drive, and the Bears had four interceptions of Joshua Dobbs in a defense-dominated 12-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. Moore for 36 yards put the ball at the 13 with 55 seconds left to set up the winning kick. The Bears (4-8) stopped a 12-game NFC North losing streak, including six in a row against the Vikings (6-6). Dobbs threw the go-ahead score to T.J. Hockenson with 5:54 left, but the Vikings stalled out again after that at the worst possible time. That set up the first field goal by Santos, who missed a 48-yard try on the first drive.

The News Tribune was an afternoon paper, which was typical for northern New Jersey, where the big New York papers dominated the mornings. The veteran editors had time to go over articles, and reporting on local scandals, strikes or council meetings offered a crash course on accuracy and fairness. Young reporters usually didn’t stay long — not because of the chiles but because a local paper was the classic starting rung, the apprenticeship, for a career in reporting. But the training was invaluable and the experience unforgettable, especially for the power of reporting to get things done. The candidates in local elections or speakers at school board meetings dealt with matters that made a tangible and immediate difference to readers.

New York (AP) — Rep. George Santos has said he expects to be expelled from Congress following a scathing report by the House Ethics Committee that found substantial evidence of lawbreaking by the New York Republican. In a defiant speech Friday sprinkled with taunts and obscenities aimed at his congressional colleagues, Santos insisted he was “not going anywhere.” But he acknowledged that his time as a member of Congress, at least, may soon be coming to an end. “I know I’m going to get expelled when this expulsion resolution goes to the floor,” he said Friday night during a conversation on X Spaces. Political Cartoons View All 1265 ImagesThe report found Santos used campaign funds for personal purposes, such as purchases at luxury retailers and adult content websites, then caused the campaign to file false or incomplete reports. “Representative Santos sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit,” investigators wrote.

T4F's (SHOW3.SA) statement follows a last-minute postponement of Swift's performance last Saturday in Rio due to record breaking heat after a fan died in the sweltering conditions a day earlier. "We recognise we could have taken some alternative actions in addition to all the others we have done," T4F Chief Executive Serafim Abreu said in a video posted on social media. On the first night of Swift's tour in Rio last Friday, 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides fell ill and later died in hospital. The 36-year-old world number one, looking to complete a remarkable year by helping his country win the Davis Cup for the second time, outclassed Norrie to become his country's most successful Davis Cup player. Serbia will face Italy on Saturday after Jannik Sinner inspired his team to a comeback win over the Netherlands, the world number four winning his singles and a decisive doubles . But world number 55 Kecmanovic produced a brilliant performance to beat Draper 7-6(2) 7-6(6) in a fierce battle. That never looked likely, however, as Djokovic, who won three of the year's four Grand Slam titles and last week's ATP Finals for a record seventh time, dissected the world number 18. Earlier, in the Martin Carpena Arena which has seen big crowds for Final Eight, Italy kept alive their hopes of a first Davis Cup title since 1976.

Prosecutors said Costa was also the target of a related probe, but he has denied wrongdoing.
