This argument has been partially successful with US District Judge Aileen Cannon in the federal classified documents case. It is unclear whether the judge assigned to the Georgia case would be amenable to delay arguments. I expect that, as in the New York case, where the judge recently denied such a motion, Trump will seek to move the case against him to federal court. While those decisions may not be binding on the Georgia judge, they will be informative as he considers the issues. As president, Trump would have the power to scuttle the federal cases and a greater ability to avoid accountability in the state cases as well.

On Monday, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis announced the fourth indictment against Trump — as well as 18 others — for alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. The indictment is sweeping, invoking Georgia’s version of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and 40 other counts. While this Georgia indictment does not provide the easy-to-read narrative that Smith gave us in the federal election interference case, the evidence here was exhaustively collected over more than two years. Since these charges have been brought in Georgia state court — and not federal court — neither Trump, should he win in 2024, nor any another Republican president can issue a pardon. Under Georgia law, a state pardon can only be given by a state pardon board — not the governor — and only afterfive years have passed following completion of the sentence.

But Swift has also made each show a news event by adding two “surprise songs,” often with headline-grabbing guests. Music critics have portrayed the Eras Tour as showing Swift at the top of her game as a media-savvy, big-tent talent, a pop star with a knack for grand spectacle as well as the polished artistry of a classic songwriter. Shania Twain, the country-pop star whose career in some ways prefigured Swift’s, caught the Las Vegas stop of the Eras Tour, a 44-plus song production that goes as long as three and a half hours. She praised Swift’s “beautiful balance” of high-tech stagecraft and intimate performance segments. (Swift’s representatives declined to comment for this article.)

Author Rachel Rodgers says that being in debt is not an automatic sign of being bad with money. As someone who has tackled debt myself, a home mortgage, student loan, or business debt is typically considered good debt because it's viewed as an investment that grow over time. Try the debt snowball methodIf you are paying more than the minimum payment, you can try the debt snowball method for debt elimination. By "snowballing" payments toward your smallest debt, you'll eliminate it quickly and move on to the next-smallest debt while paying the minimum on the rest. CNN —Aaron Rodgers has agreed to a reworked deal with the New York Jets, the 39-year-old confirmed while talking to reporters during training camp on Wednesday. Rodgers gave no specifics of the reworked deal, but according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the two sides agreed to a two-year, $75 million guaranteed contract through the 2024 season. Per the report, that would be a roughly $35 million pay cut, since Rodgers’ previous deal had nearly $110 million guaranteed remaining on it. The Jets did not comment when asked about the specifics of Rodgers’ reworked contract. The four-time league MVP, who contemplated retirement following last season, indicated he plans to play more than one season in New York.

WASHINGTON, July 26 (Reuters) - Congress still faces serious hurdles to winning approval for long-stalled legislation to speed the adoption of self-driving cars. Republicans and some Democrats want fast action, raising concerns that China could surpass the United States in deploying cars without human drivers. Autonomous vehicle legislation in Congress has been stalled for more than six years. Proposals would allow automakers to obtain exemptions to deploy tens of thousands of vehicles without meeting existing auto safety standards. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on July 12 it will soon decide on a petition filed by General Motors' (GM.N) Cruise self-driving technology unit seeking permission to deploy up to 2,500 self-driving vehicles annually without human controls, the maximum permitted under current law.

One recent Friday afternoon, I found myself walking a few feet behind a fellow who turned out to be Rodgers. We were both on our ways somewhere in SoHo, and I went out of mine to stick with him for a few extra blocks. At some point, on Grand, a street that doubles as a parking lot at that time of day, a gentleman with taxi-livery plates leaned out of his window and somehow audibly mouthed, “You’re walking behind Aaron Rodgers.” He could have yelled at Rodgers himself. They know that we know and are maybe grateful that we’re letting them be. That’s a question that’s dogged him all over the city, especially at the Tonys: You lost?

Rachel Rodgers, author of "We Should All be Millionaires" says women are constantly told that they are not good with money. She completed a survey that concluded with 90% of high-earning, successful women saying they do not feel confident making decisions about money. But when she asked if they felt confident in making money decisions, she was shocked to learn that 90% of those surveyed said no. Rodgers found that even smart, accomplished women earning six figures they had still internalized what society told them about women and money. In her book, "We Should All Be Millionaires," Rodgers found that men and women receive totally different messages about money through media and society in general.

Tony Bennett, a singer whose melodic clarity, jazz-influenced phrasing, audience-embracing persona and warm, deceptively simple interpretations of musical standards helped spread the American songbook around the world and won him generations of fans, died on Friday in New York City. His publicist, Sylvia Weiner, announced his death. In February 2021, his wife, Susan Bennett, told AARP The Magazine that Mr. Bennett learned he had Alzheimer’s disease in 2016. He continued to perform and record despite his illness; his last public performance was in August of that year, when he appeared with Lady Gaga at Radio City Music Hall in a show titled “One Last Time.”Mr. Bennett’s career of more than 70 years was remarkable not only for its longevity, but also for its consistency. In hundreds of concerts and club dates and more than 150 recordings, he devoted himself to preserving the classic American popular song, as written by Cole Porter, the Gershwins, Duke Ellington, Rodgers and Hammerstein and others.

The Black unemployment rate rose to 6.0% last month, the highest since last August, from 5.6% in May, even as the overall jobless rate ticked down a notch to 3.6%. In fact, the majority of the 239,000 person decrease in Black employment came from the people who left the labor force altogether in June, according to the report. The exact cause of the recent weakening in Black employment is not yet clear. Reuters GraphicsNonetheless, a spike in the Black unemployment rate can be a strong predictor of an impending recession, since Black workers have historically been the first to be fired during an economic downturn.
