CNN —Four ISIS leaders were killed as a result of raid in western Iraq late last month, the US military said Friday. US Central Command identified the four leaders as Ahmad Hamid Husayn Abd-al-Jalil al-Ithawi, who was responsible for all ISIS operations in Iraq; Abu Hammam, who oversaw all operations in the western part of the country; Abu-‘Ali al-Tunisi, who oversaw technical development, and Shakir Abud Ahmad al-Issawi, who was responsible for military operations in western Iraq. The US, in partnership with Iraqi security forces, conducted a raid in western Iraq on August 29, killing more than a dozen ISIS operatives who were “armed with numerous weapons, grenades, and explosive ‘suicide’ belts,” CENTCOM previously said. Amid the heightened tensions in the Middle East, Iraq has postponed announcing an end-date for the US-led military coalition’s presence in the country, CNN previously reported. Global carmakers are under intense pressure to come up with new electric vehicle (EV) and battery technology because they face vehicle emissions regulations around the world. South Korea’s Hyundai and America’s GM (GM) said on Thursday they would collaborate on joint product development, manufacturing and future clean energy technologies. KINSALE, Ireland — Three days and 225 miles later, a group of almost 100 serving and retired firefighters from New York and Ireland will cycle into a garden of remembrance on Wednesday to honor those who were killed in the 9/11 terror attacks. Based on new government inflation data, beneficiaries may see just a 2.5% increase to benefits in 2025, estimates Mary Johnson, an independent Social Security and Medicare analyst. In 2024, more than 71 million Americans — including Social Security and Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries — saw a 3.2% cost-of-living adjustment, according to the Social Security Administration. A spike in inflation drove the annual benefit boost even higher in 2023, when there was an 8.7% increase, the highest in four decades. In 2021, the cost-of-living adjustment was 1.3%.

The Missouri Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that an amendment that would enshrine abortion access in the state's constitution can appear on the general election ballot. A majority of the state Supreme Court said that a previous judgment by a circuit court is reversed, directing Missouri Secretary of State John Ashcroft to inform local election officials to place Amendment 3 on the state's Nov. 5 ballot.
