I didn't have a car, and doing work exchanges kept my fixed costs a fraction of what I spent in the US. My mindset was also different: I didn't feel the need to spend money to have fun like I do at home. But the mindset I had while living abroad is what really helped me save: I didn't feel the need to spend money to enjoy myself. I spent one summer living in New York City thanks to a work exchange I found on that same website. The traveler's mindset I had while living abroad encouraged me to explore, get creative, and find fun in the simplest activities.

They’re in that hallowed Extra-inning World Series Walk-off Club. (Jayne Kamin-Oncea / Imagn Images)This was the 693rd game in World Series history. But you would think wrong — because the complete list of men to do that consists of …Freddie Freeman! We had a hunch he was the first player in history to do that in a World Series. So little does Freeman know it, but what we saw Friday will go down in the annals as (what else) The Freddie Freeman Game.

His 70-meter effort broke the Olympic record set minutes prior by Lithuania’s Mykolas Alekna, a heavy favorite going into the Games. “I yanked it, it just dropped right out of 20 meters,” Stona recalled the first moment he picked up a discus. In Fayetteville, he met Ryan Crouser – a three-time Olympic gold medalist and an Olympic record holder in shot put – who joined the Razorbacks’ athletics staff in 2019 as a volunteer. But Stona had other plans: his fourth attempt on the night sailed 70 meters, breaking the Olympic record set minutes earlier and causing one of the biggest upsets of the Games. The gold medal in Paris gave Stona “some next level of confidence” to pick up where he left off.

The former president is returning to his hometown on Sunday for a rally in one of New York City’s most iconic landmarks, Madison Square Garden. Harris and Trump have made clear the issues they’re highlighting in the campaign’s last days. That argument illustrates what a Harris administration would look like compared with the threat Harris says Trump poses, the official said. The vice president continued that celebrity-fueled push Friday night in Texas – a rare visit to a state that is not a presidential battleground. The Madison Square Garden rally will be one of the most-covered moments of the race – with media coverage reaching into all seven swing states.

Instead, the tide of popular support swelled from the winner’s interview a watery-eyed Alderson gave in the wake of triumph at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. In North Carolina, the signs read in Spanish, “WARNING: if you are not a citizen of the United States of America, you cannot vote in elections. Earlier this week, Forward Justice addressed a letter to the North Carolina State Board of Elections, calling for the signs to be removed because they constitute "unlawful voter intimidation." The letter was co-signed by nearly two dozen organizations, including the North Carolina chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. It’s already illegal for noncitizens to vote in elections in North Carolina and at the federal level — and illegal voting rarely happens. Early voting in North Carolina ends on Nov. 2.

It identified the deaths of at least 973 Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian children who attended the boarding schools. During his remarks, Biden acknowledged that "the real number is likely to be much, much higher." “The federal Indian boarding school policy, the pain it has caused, will always be a significant mark of shame, a blot on American history,” Biden said. “Many Indian children suffered physical, sexual, and emotional abuse at these institutions,” the report found. Asian Americans now make up 12% of the electorate in Nevada, with Filipinos being the largest subgroup. In 2020, President Joe Biden won 64% of the state’s Asian American vote, while Trump took 35%. CNN —President Joe Biden on Friday formally apologized to Native Americans for what he described as “one of the most horrific chapters in American history,” government-funded boarding schools that abused indigenous children and forced them to assimilate over a 150-year period. Three years ago, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, the first Native American to serve as a Cabinet secretary, commissioned the Federal Indian Boarding School Initiative to review the schools’ impacts on Native Americans. Their final report, issued this summer, found at least 973 Native American children died while attending these federal boarding schools. It’s the first time he has visited Indian Country as president and the first time in 10 years a sitting president has visited tribal lands. He paused his speech to say that the killing of people in Gaza “has to stop.”CNN’s Arlette Saenz contributed to this report.

Ulf Mauder/picture alliance/Getty ImagesMany observers fear the ruling Georgian Dream party will resort to anything to stay in power. This year, Georgian Dream pushed through a Kremlin-style “foreign agent” law, which critics say aims to shut down watchdogs who call the government to account. She described some of the statements made by Georgian Dream officials as a “copy-paste” of those from Stalin’s show trials. ‘Soviet mentality’A question puzzling many is why the formerly center-left Georgian Dream has made a sudden authoritarian pivot. Joining the EU would require cleaning up the country’s judiciary and giving up power if Georgian Dream is voted out on Saturday.

The record shows that Mr. Trump often pursues his stated goals, regardless of how plainly they lack legal or moral grounding. For this reason, Americans would be wise to see this language as a genuine threat, not simply Mr. Trump on a tangent. Why You Should Believe Him As president, Mr. Trump repeatedly sought to use the power of government to punish his political opponents. But rules can be rewritten, and Mr. Trump has made clear that he intends to pick officials who will take orders from the Oval Office. Mr. Trump would have broad authority to pursue such a plan, though he’d need Congress to provide a lot of money.

An army of Chinese-controlled social media bots is attempting to influence voters in Alabama, Texas and Tennessee while denigrating Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, according to research published Wednesday by Microsoft. The troll network has “parroted antisemitic messages, amplified accusations of corruption and promoted opposition candidates,” according to Microsoft. The bots amplified support for Blackburn’s election rival while spreading claims that she took money from pharmaceutical companies. Moore, McCaul and Blackburn are all running for re-election next month. The Microsoft researchers found the influence effort did not result “in high levels of engagement.” The report did not provide any metrics for how many Americans viewed the relevant social media posts.
