CNN —USA Basketball’s decision to omit Caitlin Clark from the Olympic roster was initially met with some shock. However, USA Basketball has made a “terrible decision,” according to CNN Sport analyst Christine Brennan, by omitting a phenomenon like Clark from the roster. Breanna Stewart, a two-time WNBA champion, Brittney Griner, a nine-time All Star and A’ja Wilson, a two-time MVP, have all represented Team USA at an Olympic Games before. “She’s the biggest thing in sports, not just women’s basketball in the United States,” Brennan said of why Clark should be included. With or without Clark, Team USA is the overwhelming favorite to win gold in Paris and continue its unbeaten Olympic record stretching back to 1992.

Outside a small coal town in southwest Wyoming, a multibillion-dollar effort to build the first in a new generation of American nuclear power plants is underway. Workers began construction on Tuesday on a novel type of nuclear reactor meant to be smaller and cheaper than the hulking reactors of old and designed to produce electricity without the carbon dioxide that is rapidly heating the planet. The reactor being built by TerraPower, a start-up, won’t be finished until 2030 at the earliest and faces daunting obstacles. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission hasn’t yet approved the design, and the company will have to overcome the inevitable delays and cost overruns that have doomed countless nuclear projects before. Bill Gates, currently ranked as the seventh-richest person in the world, has poured more than $1 billion of his fortune into TerraPower, an amount that he expects to increase.

Brisbane, Australia CNN —An Australian billionaire is offering to build a secure gate system on the Israel-Gaza border that he says could allow 10,000 metric tons of food aid to be delivered each day to starving Palestinians. He’s also committed $5 million to improve the Jordanian humanitarian land corridor by building storage warehouses to allow more aid to pass to Gaza. Cargo trucks carrying humanitarian aid move through security inspections before crossing into the Gaza Strip, in Kerem Shalom, Israel on March 14. The IDF has repeatedly said hundreds of trucks carrying humanitarian aid have been entering the Gaza Strip, but aid organizations say the supplies are not reaching civilians in need. The passage of aid into Gaza has become gridlocked by Israeli inspections, and in some cases the temporary closure of access points.

Read preview"Seinfeld" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus says that comedy can be approached with sensitivity without sacrificing the art — and taking issue with political correctness is a "red flag." Louis-Dreyfus, known for her work on shows like "Saturday Night Live," "Seinfeld," and "Veep," was asked to weigh in after fellow comedian and former costar Jerry Seinfeld's recent comments about political correctness in comedy made headlines. "When I hear people starting to complain about political correctness — and I understand why people might push back on it — but to me that's a red flag, because it sometimes means something else," she said. "My feeling about all of it is that political correctness, insofar as it equates to tolerance, is obviously fantastic," the Emmy-winning actor said. HBOLouis-Dreyfus' comments come weeks after Seinfeld said there are fewer sitcoms because political correctness is ruining comedy.

Meantime, Giorgio Armani held a party on his yacht for the likes of Sydney Sweeney and Kerry Washington. Being a guest on a superyacht is probably the best kind of guest to be — but the etiquette aboard the multimillion-dollar vessels comes with its own idiosyncrasies. The very few who need to know them — there are only about 5,800 yachts longer than 30 meters at sea, according to SuperYacht Times — already know them. The price to charter Triumph, a 65-meter superyacht, starts at $650,000 a week. According to the industry standard, owning a superyacht will cost 10% of its new-build price annually.

Representatives for Lynch and US prosecutors said Lynch was acquitted on all 15 charges — one count of conspiracy and 14 counts of wire fraud. Former Autonomy finance executive Stephen Chamberlain, who faced the same charges at trial alongside Lynch, was also acquitted on all counts, the Lynch representative said. On the stand, the entrepreneur said he had been focused on tech issues, and entrusted money matters and the accounting decisions at issue to Sushovan Hussain, Autonomy’s then-chief financial officer. Hussain was separately convicted in 2018 at a trial in the same court on charges related to the deal with HP. Representatives for Lynch and U.S. prosecutors said Lynch was acquitted on all 15 charges — one count of conspiracy, and 14 counts of wire fraud, each connected to specific transactions or communications. Former Autonomy finance executive Stephen Chamberlain, who faced the same charges at trial alongside Lynch, was also acquitted on all counts, the Lynch representative said. The trial where prosecutors said Lynch and Chamberlain schemed to inflate Autonomy's revenue was the latest chapter in a legal saga stemming from the failed deal. The book focuses on three themes, all of which can help you better understand the people around you, Brooks writes: curiosity, empathy and self-awareness. That's because they're better at taking interest in other people and giving them the floor to share their stories and perspectives authentically, Brooks writes. "Diminishers are not curious about you, they don't ask you questions," Brooks said during a discussion at Colgate University in February. But diminishers often ask questions that aren't open-ended, or use your response as a way to talk about themselves. Then, try to provide some insight, Brooks writes — rounding out the conversation by letting them know you're here for them.

How much do we pay for an enterprise software business that may have hit the wall, suddenly slowing down to sales growth in the high single digits from growth in the double digits? But Salesforce is the most glaring of the enterprise software behemoths, which include ServiceNow , Adobe , Workday , SAP , Intuit , and fallen star MongoDB . Or to put it another way, Salesforce needs its clients to hire more people to increase sales growth. SaaS is another form of enterprise software, is another form of applications software, is another form of kryptonite. Of course, there will be enterprise software companies that defy the slowdown.

CNN —Rivers and streams in Alaska are changing color – from a clean, clear blue to a rusty orange – because of the toxic metals released by thawing permafrost, according to a new study. Ken Hill/National Park ServiceArctic soils naturally contain organic carbon, nutrients and metals, such as mercury, within their permafrost, the study says. “It’s really an unexpected consequence of climate change.”Researchers used satellite imagery to determine when the change in color happened at different rivers and streams. In Alaska’s Arctic rivers alone reside a variety of fish that are “critical for subsistence, sport, and commercial fisheries,” researchers wrote. Poulin said local communities voiced their concerns and observations to study researchers beginning seven years ago.

But this is the global system we do have and, within it, some billionaires are behaving much more generously and ethically than others. Melinda French Gates is one of the good ones. French Gates has long been an advocate for family planning and women’s rights abroad, and now she’s dedicating $1 billion through 2026 to those issues. Female billionaires, in other words, are far more likely than male ones to give away substantial portions of their wealth.
