We will ultimately eliminate the federal Department of Education,” he said earlier this month during a rally in Wisconsin. Previously, federal education programs were housed in other agencies. Ending the department may not eliminate federal education fundingFederal funding programs for K-12 schools that help support the education of students from low-income families and children with disabilities predated the creation of the Department of Education. Calls to abolish the Department of Education or merge it with another federal agency are not new. When Trump was president, his administration proposed merging the Education and Labor departments into one federal agency.

They're just a few of the destinations trying to lure away the U.K.'s uber wealthy ahead of proposed changes to the country's divisive non-dom tax regime. They will also be prevented from avoiding inheritance tax on assets held in trust. The majority (83%) cited inheritance tax on their worldwide assets as their key motivator for leaving, while 65% also referenced changes to income and capital gains tax. Where the wealthy are movingIt comes as other countries are shaking up their tax regimes to incentivize wealthy investors. Ultra-wealthy U.K. citizens, who are typically highly active in the super-prime market, are also in "wait and see" mode ahead of possible changes to capital gains and inheritance tax.

Armstrong said Al-Fayad was a “monster” who committed a “vast web of abuse.”Setting out the legal claim being brought against Harrods, Armstrong said Al-Fayad was “enabled by a system” that pervaded the store. “This is and was a systematic failure of corporate responsibility, and that systematic failure is on the shoulders of Harrods,” Armstrong said. HSBC in a Sept. 17 report examined the relationship between Fed rate cuts and copper and aluminum prices over the past 30 years. In its base case, Citi sees copper prices averaging $9,000 per ton for the rest of this year, citing U.S. election uncertainty and weak manufacturing sentiment. Energy Citi anticipates that oil will suffer renewed price weakness in 2025, with Brent falling to around $60 a barrel. Based on what happened in 2019, trade tariffs lowered global oil demand growth by 0.2 million barrels a day. A slowdown in China, among the world's largest importer and consumer of oil, has been blamed on slowing global oil demand.

The group said movie theater chains will also invest in adding more family entertainment options, like bowling and arcades, to their facilities. The group's president and CEO, Michael O'Leary, also told Variety that pickleball courts and ziplines will be coming to some theater complexes. Still, the renovations won't be the first time that pickleball joins forces with movie theaters. CNN —On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the first time since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, slashing its benchmark rate by half a percentage point and signaling more rate cuts by the end of the year. The supply of homes for sale hasn’t kept up with demand as homeowners who locked in ultra-low pandemic-era mortgage rates were less willing to sell their homes in a higher mortgage rate environment. Some experts believe falling rates could entice more homeowners to put their homes up for sale. In the past few months, rates have steadily fallen in anticipation of interest rate cuts. Does the Fed’s recent interest rate cut and the potential for more rate cuts in the future change your outlook as a homeowner or a potential homebuyer?

In many ways, F1 Academy is a spiritual successor to W Series, an all-female racing series that shuttered in 2022 because of financial problems. Where F1 Academy differs is that it has the financial backing of Formula 1 and buy-in from the sport's constructors, with each team sponsoring F1 Academy drivers. "F1 Academy is a really friendly environment and a bit different to when I've been in male paddocks with mixed competition. She previously competed in W Series and has enjoyed her time so far with F1 Academy, which she describes as a "streamlined" series. Most importantly, though, she's grateful for the amount of testing and practice time that F1 Academy provides.

Investors don't need to worry that the market got out over its skis on interest rate cuts, according to Bank of America. The S & P 500 rallied to all-time highs this week after the Federal Reserve issued its first interest rate decrease in four years. Said another way, when looking historically, Subramanian found "no relationship" between returns ahead of the Fed's first cut and 12-month forward performance. On top of that, she said the S & P 500 sitting near a 52-week high heading into the cut has mattered "even less." The S & P 500 has climbed 11% on average over the year following an initial rate cute.
