To combat burnout, it will take more than vacations and a few yoga classes, she told Insider. To really fix what's wrong with work, Fisher said, we need to have deeper, more thoughtful conversations. Fisher said employers need to push back on the idea that workers who cut through piles of work must be in good shape. I was on my way to burnout and the downstream impacts of my actions and behaviors on my team were detrimental," she said. Her own journey toward a more balanced approach to work leaves Fisher optimistic that broader change is possible.

Indian interlopers can disrupt global mining M&A
  + stars: | 2023-08-25 | by ( Pranav Kiran | ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +3 min
BENGALURU, Aug 25 (Reuters Breakingviews) - An Indian tycoon has a powerful motive to throw himself into some global mining M&A. Sajjan Jindal is looking to pull together a consortium to take a 75% stake in the coal unit of Canadian miner Teck Resources (TECKb.TO), according to Bloomberg. Such a move would pit his $23 billion Mumbai-listed JSW Steel (JSTL.NS) against a rival $8 billion bid by Swiss commodities giant Glencore (GLEN.L). In North America, JSW already has steel plants in Ohio and Texas, and coal mining facilities in West Virginia. Anchoring a consortium bid makes sense but if push comes to shove, Indian tycoons can afford to be aggressive interlopers.

New Jersey’s sales tax-free holiday, running from August 26 to September 4, covers back-to-school essentials such as computers, school supplies, and sport or recreational equipment. The sales tax holiday in Florida, which ends on September 4, covers children’s athletic equipment priced at $100 or less.

The push to get workers back to offices could put millions of jobs at risk if people don't comply. What makes this even more difficult to swallow for Meta employees is just how quickly Meta's tone has changed. In June, they were informed about the need to come into the office three days a week from September 5, per The Information. AdvertisementAdvertisementAmazon is making a similar play to Meta, with a return-to-office strategy that involves scare tactics. As technology shapes customer habits, entire industries, and society at large, digital transformation has become a critical priority for every company. A February report from Deloitte found effective digital transformation initiatives could increase market capitalization by a staggering $1.25 trillion. From artificial intelligence to extended reality, a variety of technologies are shaping digital transformation strategies. He said he expected industries with "significant human implications," such as healthcare and space exploration, to benefit the most from digital transformation. Extended reality — a combination of virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality often called "XR" — is another technology that could revolutionize organizational cultures.

That professionalisation has underpinned the success of the ninth Women's World Cup, which ended on Sunday with Spain beating England by a single goal in a final that pitted the two European countries with the strongest domestic leagues against each other. Attracting record crowds and television audiences, the tournament buoyed hopes that the women's game can start to bridge the yawning financial gap that exists with the men. TV BLACKOUTIn broadcast rights, the women's game has struggled to compete. The FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, threatened Europe's "Big 5" nations with a TV World Cup blackout unless their broadcasters upped their offers. Adani Ports has named MSKA & Associates, an independent member firm of BDO International, as its new auditor, it said in the statement. REUTERS/Anushree Fadnavis/File PhotoNEW DELHI, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Deloitte has decided to resign as auditor of India's Adani Ports (APSE.NS) amid concerns over certain transactions flagged in a report by Hindenburg, which the company did not wish to independently look into, a source with direct knowledge said. Deloitte in May had pointed to certain transactions flagged by the U.S. short-seller in its report and gave only a qualified opinion, which indicates concerns by a company's auditor. Deloitte's resignation comes after it asked Adani Ports to conduct an independent inquiry on related party transactions flagged by Hindenburg, to which the company did not agree, the source said. Executives at US financial firms say they would quit if they had to return to the office full-time. They want to work remotely but are worried that it will impact their careers negatively. Deloitte and Workplace Intelligence conducted a survey of 700 full-time executives at US financial services organizations in April 2023 to explore their attitudes around work arrangements including remote and hybrid work. It found that 66% of executives who worked remotely at least part of the week said they would quit if they were mandated to come back to the office full-time. LONDON, Aug 2 (Reuters) - A global body on Wednesday proposed its first set of comprehensive rules for auditing climate-related company disclosures in an anticipated move regulators have said is crucial for giving investors information free of greenwashing. Stricter European Union, U.S. and global rules are being introduced over coming months to replace a patchwork of voluntary private sector practices for listed companies to disclose the impact of climate change on their bottom line. The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) said its first comprehensive, standalone standard for auditing sustainability disclosures would play a key role in enhancing trust and confidence in reporting. The proposed standard, put out to public consultation, can be used for disclosures under the various regimes being rolled out to aid global consistency, the IAASB said. Nigel Sleigh-Johnson, director for audit and corporate reporting at the ICAEW, a London-based professional accounting body, said the proposed standards were a much-needed underpinning for high quality disclosures.
