CNN —If “Alien” broke ground as a haunted house movie in outer space, “I.S.S.” moves the suspense thriller into a similar confined and tense setting. Set in the near future, the film hinges on a mixed Russian-American crew aboard the International Space Station. Bringing that modern wrinkle to Cold War-era paranoia is ripe with possibilities, especially given the frostier interactions between the US and Russia in recent years. Ariana DeBose in the outer-space thriller "I.S.S." “I.S.S.” premieres January 19 in US theaters.

Gray is drab and dreary. Gray lacks the warmth so many people desire. According to Amy Krane, architectural color consultant at Amy Krane Color , "People are leaning toward more colorful, complex color combinations now, which is one reason why the gray train has finally pulled out of the station." Interior designer and color expert Paula Kennedy of Timeless Kitchen Design LLC told BI the declining interest in gray may be due to an increased desire for warmer hues. Kennedy said gray's "many different undertones" can appear "drab and cold" and thinks the hue will continue to fall out of favor.

expect retailers to start stocking more "green" meatballs and bean burgers in place of fake-meat products amid rising concerns about ultra-processed foods. Plant-based meats are generally regarded as healthier than meat products because they're typically lower in fat and higher in fiber. "We're not sure that the demand is going to be there for those products," Firth said. Firth added that he expected plant-based meat manufacturers to increasingly focus on having cleaner labels by reducing the number of ingredients. "So I think moving forward we'd like to see more plant-based options that don't even have to shout about being plant-based or vegan.

Early in José Saramago’s 2006 memoir, “Small Memories,” he tells readers that he briefly considered calling it “The Book of Temptations” instead. His reasons were characteristically elliptical and charming: something about Bosch, and sainthood, and the fat prostitute who “in a weary, indifferent voice” invited a 12-year-old Saramago up to her room. (He doesn’t report his answer, but given how candid the book is elsewhere, it’s safe to assume he declined.) In the end, though, he decided that the title “Small Memories” better suited the book’s contents: “nothing of great note,” in Saramago’s estimation; simply “the small memories of when I was small.”But for a great writer, of course, there are no small moments, and Saramago (1922-2010) was one of the best. Saramago’s memoir, which appeared in English translation the year before he died, is a winsome look back at his coming-of-age in the small village of Azinhaga and later in Lisbon.

Bobi’s advanced age was remarkable: Dogs of his breed normally live 12 to 14 years. And although there are many exceptions, smaller dogs in general live longer than midsize ones, who live longer than the largest. It noted that while Bobi had been registered on a Portuguese government database, his listed age was based entirely on the owner’s say-so. Questions were also raised because the dog appeared to be overweight in photos, not a good sign for extreme longevity. It said that while the timeline could vary, it sought to keep such investigations to three or fewer months.

The Blue Zones meals were tasty and convenient but left me hungryThis is not enough lunch for me. One of the most exciting discoveries in Blue Zones research is that the ingredients linked to longevity aren't expensive , exotic, or hard to prepare, and they are satiating too. The Blue Zones Kitchen Minestrone Casserole is currently on sale at Whole Foods for $6.99, almost five times that price. Building flavor for healthy food you'll actually be excited to eat is also easier than you might think. All in all, I'm thrilled we have the option for Blue Zones cooking to-go, but am still hungry for more.

CNN —The world’s “oldest ever dog” Bobi, who died in October reportedly aged 31, has provisionally lost his title as Guinness World Records (GWR) investigates his age, a spokesperson for the company told CNN on Tuesday. “While our review is ongoing we have decided to temporarily pause both the record titles for oldest dog living & ever just until all of our findings are in place,” the spokesperson said. Bobi poses for a photo with his owner Leonel Costa and his Guinness World Record certificates for the oldest dog in May 2023. He was a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo – a breed of livestock guardian dog – according Costa. The previous record holder for oldest living dog and the oldest dog ever was held by Australian cattle-dog Bluey, who was born in 1910 and lived to be 29 years and five months old.

The survey, which has been running for a decade, reflects input from nearly 12,000 expats representing 177 nationalities in 181 countries or territories. John Coletti/The Image Bank Unreleased/Getty ImagesA longtime retirement destination for Americans, Mexico also has attracted more families and the digital nomad set over the past few years. Pros: Mexico ranked first in InterNations’ 2023 Expat Insider survey and has ranked among the top five countries since 2014. Cons: As is the case in Mexico and other countries with large expat communities, there’s growing backlash against the influx of foreigners, especially Americans, and especially in Lisbon. That popularity among auslanders has contributed to a housing pinch in major cities, especially Berlin, where finding accommodation is one of the most stressful aspects of a move.

Classic blue creates a sense of calm. Blue is a classic bedroom color. Ground Picture/ShutterstockAccording to Woolf, blue will be a trending color throughout 2024. "Blue has always been a classic bedroom color, from a pale, airy blue to a deep, cozy navy," she said. Lighter shades of the hue can be tricky to incorporate, so the expert recommends looking for a blue mixed with gray.

SAN JOSE/PANAMA CITY (Reuters) - Costa Rican police on Tuesday arrested Panamanian businessman and former presidential hopeful David Ochy on charges of fraud and money laundering, judicial authorities said on Tuesday, following an Interpol request. Ochy was wanted by Interpol for being central to a case linked to former Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli, who was in July sentenced to over a decade in prison for money laundering. Ochy enrolled as a presidential pre-candidate for Martinelli's Realizing Goals party ahead of the 2024 vote, which protected him from facing trial in the Martinelli case last summer. Ochy faces criminal charges for money laundering and using a fraudulent Costa Rican identity card, Zuniga said. Carlo Diaz, who heads Costa Rica's state attorney's office, said he could be extradited to neighboring Panama though he must first face criminal proceedings in Costa Rica and could even serve a prison sentence there.

And in a tucked-away corner of Nicoya, Costa Rica, I may have found the world's healthiest breakfast. They stoke wood fires in clay ovens, put cauldrons of spicy beans to boil, and mix corn dough with wood ash. The beans cook slowly for about an hour to tender perfection and are then mixed with rice.
