CNN —San Diego Padres infielder Tucupita Marcano has been banned for life by Major League Baseball for betting on baseball games. The MLB investigation found that 25 of those bets included Pirates games while Marcano was assigned to the Major League club. Those players are Oakland Athletics pitcher Michael Kelly, Padres minor league pitcher Jay Groome, Philadelphia Phillies minor league infielder José Rodríguez and Arizona Diamondbacks minor league pitcher Andrew Saalfrank. Labeling this as a 10-minute sandwich makes it seem deceptively low-effort, but I still enjoyed it. In total, I spent a little under $50 to make the sandwich. In addition, Ramsay didn't really give exact timing for each step, so it was hard to know when things were "done." Each ingredient in Ramsay's steak sandwich added a delicious pop of flavor, and it wasn't as expensive to make at home as I'd anticipated. Much of it revolves around the charge of genocide and seeks to punish Zionists and anyone else who refuses to explicitly denounce the Jewish state for allegedly committing said crime. Over the past several months, a litmus test has emerged across wide swaths of the literary world effectively excluding Jews from full participation unless they denounce Israel. This phenomenon has been unfolding in progressive spaces (academia, politics, cultural organizations) for quite some time. That it has now hit the rarefied, highbrow realm of publishing — where Jewish Americans have made enormous contributions and the vitality of which depends on intellectual pluralism and free expression — is particularly alarming.
