Men are getting rich from AI. Women, not so much.

New research finds that female-led AI companies are missing out on the global rush to invest in AI. AI startups founded by women in the UK raised six times less than those founded by men in the past decade. This occurs even as the number of female-founded AI companies that are launching, rises. "One of our biggest priorities is ensuring AI models are fair and unbiased," she said. "While AI is heavily male-dominated and we still see a big gender disparity at AI events in San Francisco, we're hopeful this will change as more women become involved in AI companies.

"CFM is reviewing the documentation turned over by AOG Technics as part of our effort to determine the full extent of their sale of parts with fraudulent documentation," CFM said. AOG Technics could not be reached for comment. The CFM56 is the most sold jet engine in history and was developed by a transatlantic venture that turns 50 next year. The findings cover thousands of parts for the CFM56 engine as well as hundreds of parts for GE's CF6 engines, used mainly on commercial freighters. Sen. Bob Menendez is viewed favorably by just 14% of New Jersey Democrats, according to a new poll. But New Jersey Democrats are ready to toss him out: a poll released Thursday found that as few as 5% of Democratic respondents would support the indicted lawmaker in a future primary contest. That sets up the possibility of a contested primary race in June 2024. In a contest where New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy enters the race, Menendez seems to find himself in an even worse position, based on the poll. Once she is sworn in, Butler will be the only Black woman in the Senate and the first openly LGBTQ+ California senator. That, alongside her background in the labor and women's rights movements, helps harden Newsom’s ties to important national Democratic constituencies. She is expected to be sworn in Tuesday in Washington by Harris, the last Black woman to serve in the Senate. Butler, who will be sworn into the Senate this week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Monday morning, hasn't indicated whether she wants to stay in the job. But it has been investing heavily in its domestic arms industry with the goal of equipping its own forces and increasing its arms sales around the world. Recent arms sales and exercises illustrate how India seeks to turn that domestic arms production into foreign sales and perhaps even take some of that market away from its biggest supplier. The leaders discussed "defense platforms" and "equipment-related linkages" and deepening cooperation between their militaries and defense industries. (Egypt and India collaborated on development of the Helwan HA-300 light supersonic interceptor in the 1960s, but that project was ultimately canceled.) After all, Indian defense exports in recent years were negligible compared to heavyweights like the US and France, and New Delhi remains heavily reliant on imports.

(AP) — As Nebraska's new law restricting gender-affirming care for minors goes into effect this weekend, families with transgender children and the doctors who treat them are steeling themselves for change. A key aspect of the law is a set of treatment guidelines that has yet to be created. Minors who already receive puberty blockers or hormones are allowed to continue the treatment, but new patients who are minors are largely banned from starting. At the time, Nebraska lawmakers were locked in a contentious battle over the proposed transgender health care ban, which touched off an epic filibuster that slowed the session to a crawl. At least 22 states have enacted laws restricting or banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender minors, and most of those states face lawsuits.

Authorities are also looking into possible compliance failures at UBS. In bailing out Credit Suisse, UBS has taken on a bank in terrible shape. COVID-19 isn’t going away – and neither is long COVID. The survey found that in 2022, about 7% of adults – or about 1 in 14 – reported ever having long COVID. More women reported having had long COVID than men – a trend also observed in children. “These findings are important – they can inform more sensitive testing for long COVID patients and personalized treatments for long COVID that have, until now, not had a proven scientific rationale,” David Putrino, principal investigator of the study, said in a statement. It found that the blood of those experiencing long COVID had specific biomarkers, like abnormal T cell activity, reactivation of dormant viruses and low cortisol levels.

NEW YORK (AP) — Rupert Murdoch, the 92-year-old Australian media magnate whose creation of Fox News made him a force in American politics, is stepping down as leader of both Fox's parent company and his News Corp. media holdings. Fox said Thursday that Murdoch would become chairman emeritus of both companies, effective at board meetings in November. Stock in Fox Corp., while positive this year, began to decline early in 2022, due in part to lawsuits and investor anxiety over the loss of viewers to smaller media outlets. While Murdoch never ran for political office, politicians in the United States and Britain anxiously sought his approval.
