The newlyweds spent their honeymoon taking students on two-week tours in China for sightseeing and classes on culture, education and history. In Chinese nationalist circles, which have an outsized voice on policy debates in China, there are no rosy illusions about Walz. The hashtag “Harris’ VP pick once taught in China” racked up 15 million views on microblogging site Weibo.

Although their population is small compared to other states, Latinos in Minnesota said Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris' pick for running mate, has not overlooked them as governor. New York CNN —Today is Kelly Ortberg’s first day as CEO of Boeing. The new CEO said in a memo to staff Thursday that he decided to work 2,300 miles from the company’s current corporate offices in Arlington, Virginia, to help restore trust in the company’s commercial aircraft business. A Boeing 737 MAX aircraft is shown on the assembly line at the Boeing facility in Renton, Washington. The company said it had no comment whether it is considering moving its entire headquarters back to Seattle along with Ortberg. Boeing executives admitted there they still don’t know how the plane in the door plug blowout left Boeing’s Renton, Washington factory without the four bolts needed to keep the door plug in place.

The door plug was removed at the Boeing factory in Renton, Washington, last September so that problems with some rivets could be repaired. But the necessary paperwork for that temporary door plug removal was apparently never created. But under questioning from the NTSB Lund admitted that it’s not clear who and when that door plug was put in place. “Are you 100% sure there will never be an unauthorized removal (of a door plug)?” Homendy asked. Asked if he could promise there will not be another door plug improperly installed, Silva answer, “I cannot make a promise or guarantee of that.

A ‘harsh reality’ for EVsFord likes to brag about its growing EV sales, but its profit is still primarily coming from the sales of gasoline powered trucks and SUVs. Ford isn’t the only automaker pulling back on its EV plans and making new investment in ICE vehicles. This is not to say that the traditional automakers are dropping their EV plans altogether or that EV sales are falling. But EV sales, which initially grew at a double-digit pace, haven’t shot up exponentially as automakers hoped or expected. That uncertainty about the future of US EV incentives prompted automakers to reconsider their earlier EV plans.

The worker said there was no special training to open, close, or remove a door plug versus a regular door. But there were problems with the rivets by the door plug that needed to be repaired, so the door plug was removed so the work could be done. There were Spirit employees at the Boeing plant, but communication between the Boeing and Spirit workers on the floor of the Boeing factory wasn’t good, according to another interview transcript released Tuesday. CNN —Hours before former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi formally launched the first impeachment investigation into former President Donald Trump in 2019, she received a call from the subject of the probe himself. During the September phone call, Pelosi said Trump claimed she would be impressed with his “lack of pressure,” that he “didn’t threaten anyone” and “there’s no reason” to impeach him. “I do not believe that the president (needs to directly) make a quid pro quo to intimidate a foreign leader,” Pelosi told Trump. “I didn’t do that,” Trump replied, to which Pelosi replied, “You withheld aid, and there is an inference drawn.”As Trump continued to claim that his call with Zelensky was “flawless,” Pelosi responded, “We’ll find out. “The call was perfect.”In her final reply to Trump before the end of the call, Pelosi said, “That call was perfectly clear.

It was a combination of the skill of the flight crew and good luck that no one was killed. But there were problems with five rivets near where the door plug was installed, and Boeing workers removed the door plug in order to fix those rivets. Protesters demonstrate against the National Election Council certification of President Nicolas Maduro's reelection in Caracas, Venezuela, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. The AP processed almost 24,000 images of tally sheets, representing the results from 79% of voting machines. National Electoral Council President Elvis Amoroso attributed the delay in updating results to "massive attacks" on the "technological infrastructure." The AP could not independently verify the authenticity of the 24,532 tally sheets provided by the opposition. The tally sheets, known in Spanish as "actas," are lengthy printouts that resemble shopping receipts.

Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, center left, and Opposition presidential candidate Edmundo González, center right, greet supporters at a protest against the result of the presidential election in Caracas, Venezuela, on Tuesday. On Monday, after the National Electoral Council declared Maduro the winner of the election, thousands of opposition supporters took to the streets. The presidents of Colombia and Brazil — both close allies of the Venezuelan government — have urged Maduro to release detailed vote counts. He added that Mexico expects “that the evidence, the electoral results records, be presented.”Pressure has been building on the president since the election. But Machado, the opposition leader, has said vote tallies show González received roughly 6.2 million votes compared with 2.7 million for Maduro.

On Sunday, officials attempted to block opposition volunteers from voting centers, and in some places, they succeeded. The QR code scans gave a team of campaign workers immediate access to voting results, which they tabulated Sunday night and Monday. The National Electoral Council has not yet shared the tallies on its website, which has been down since Monday. While it is not obligated to post images of the tally sheets, it has previously shared each sheet’s totals. The campaign needed to get them all fully scanned using equipment especially designed to copy the tally sheets.
