And this Memorial Day weekend could be a case in point: Travelers are expected to come out in record-setting droves. Three-plus years of high inflation have taken their toll on Americans’ budgets and, especially, their mindsets. Inflation has slowed during the past couple of years, pulling back significantly from its peak of 9.1% in June 2022. Americans, especially lower-income consumers, have pulled back spending at retailers as goods inflation outpaces wage growth. Pandemic-era savings have been spent while sticky inflation and high inflation rates eat into household budgets.

Read previewAirport security officers have concerns over the special crew-member lanes that enable flight attendants and airline pilots to bypass typical passenger screening procedures. However, former and current TSA agents told Business Insider the lanes were "terrible" and that cabin crews could be "a bigger flight risk than the passengers themselves." 'KCM should be eliminated'TSA agents told BI these stories of cabin-crew wrongdoing "completely breach the trust that we put in them." "Transportation Security Officers conduct security screening for prohibited items at airport checkpoints and checked baggage screening," a TSA spokesperson told BI. However, Harmon-Marshall said airlines should do a better job of educating their crews about the dangers of the program, particularly when a flight crew is walking around in their uniforms.

This report is from this week's CNBC's "Inside India" newsletter which brings you timely, insightful news and market commentary on the emerging powerhouse and the big businesses behind its meteoric rise. "This particular product, and broadly speaking, the domestic investor, has driven the upsurge in the Indian stock markets," Mahesh Nandurkar, head of India research at Jefferies, told CNBC. For instance, of the nearly 4,900 actively traded India-listed stocks, 300 stocks had a fall in revenue in the last two consecutive financial years. Foreign investors have historically had a significant influence on local equity markets. For now, the savings directed into equity markets are still a tiny proportion of the overall savings Indians put away annually.

The 67-year-old entrepreneur’s visa woes have reignited a fresh firestorm about the frustrations of traveling within Africa for Africans. But many African countries still require visas from other Africans and the experience is fraught with discrimination, hostility and sky-high fees. He has also been detained at airports in Kenya and South Africa because of his Nigerian passport. “There’s a fear in richer African countries that people from poorer nations might be looking for a way to permanently move there,” he explains. His new St Kitts passport allows him to go to more African countries than his Nigerian passport.

I've visited all 50 states, and a few US airports stand out to me as being really cool. Nashville International Airport has some great dining options and live music. Some international airports are awesome because of their amenities and features, like Singapore Changi Airport with its massive indoor waterfall and movie theater. But what makes so many US airports cool is that they have unique amenities and local flavor. As a travel writer who has visited all 50 states, I've compiled a list of what I think are the coolest airports in the US.

The Biden administration will issue visa restrictions against 250 people and sanctions against three organizations that support the Nicaraguan government, whose authoritarian leader officials say has profited off people trying to reach the United States. The Biden administration will also issue a policy alert to private companies, including airlines, of concerns about irregular immigration patterns and potential human rights abuses stemming from those practices. There is no way to enforce the policy against companies that ignore those abuses. The announcement reflected a growing concern among President Biden and his advisers that a surge of undocumented immigrants into the United States is a growing threat to his re-election campaign. It also showed that the administration has limited options to stem the flow of immigration from troubled countries whose citizens are searching for a better life in the United States.

When Travel Plans Go Awry

The weekend trip is, in theory, the perfect break. Two nights someplace else, just a small duffel bag and limited logistics standing between you and a reset. You might take a weekend trip for vacation or work or to see family, but the effect is the same. An old friend used to call these neither-here-nor-there realms the “zero world” for the way they feel unfastened from reality, parallel to daily life but separate. I was as cranky and impatient as the rest of my fellow travelers at each complication in our journeys, but also fascinated by the communities and customs and Cibo Express markets of the zero world.
