Two American Airlines passengers were left stranded for two days and had to pay for their own hotel and food after their connecting flight was canceled. The brothers, both 35, found out their flight got canceled when they got to Dallas Fort Worth International airport. "We were told unambiguously 'no,' that we would not get a refund for a flight canceled due to weather," Andrew told Insider. "I contacted AA through the app again and said regulation shows I should be reimbursed for the canceled flight and they said we could get a refund if we didn't rebook another flight."

April 21 (Reuters) - Ratings agency S&P Global revised up its outlook for Britain's sovereign credit rating on Friday, removing the "negative" label which it applied after September's "mini-budget" under then-Prime Minister Liz Truss. "The government's decision to abandon most of the unfunded budgetary measures proposed in September 2022 has bolstered the fiscal outlook for the UK," S&P said. S&P maintained its AA rating for British government debt and now has a "stable" outlook for the rating. Lower energy prices have brightened Britain's economic outlook - with the International Monetary Fund revising up its forecasts last week - although the squeeze on consumer spending from continued high inflation means the IMF still forecasts Britain's economy will contract by 0.3% in 2023. S&P said it expected British economic output to fall by 0.5% this year before growing by an average of 1.6% a year between 2024 and 2026.

When the debt ceiling was breached in January, five-year CDS spreads hovered around 35 basis points. How does this compare to the 2011 debt ceiling debacle? In 2011 a debt ceiling standoff led to credit-rating agency Standard and Poor’s downgrade of US debt from the highest possible status, AAA, to AA+. After that occurred, the cost of insuring against US debt for a year jumped to 63 basis points.

The Treasury market is starting to price in the possibility of a US debt default later this summer. The difference in yields between US Treasury bills maturing in May and July hit a record 1.49%. "Investors are likely demanding more to hold those securities at risk of delayed payment," LPL Research said. The one-month Treasury bill currently yields about 3.71%, compared to 5.14% for a 3-month Treasury bill. A similar scenario could play out this time as Republicans show no signs of working with Democrats to pass a debt limit increase, despite continued remarks from both sides of the aisle that a US debt default "is not an option."

Reddit said it plans to start charging companies for access to its data that is used to train AI. Major players in the AI race like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google train AI models using Reddit's data, NYT reported. "The Reddit corpus of data is really valuable," Steve Huffman, cofounder and CEO of Reddit, told The Times. Huffman told The Times that Reddit's API will still be free for developers building applications to help people with using Reddit. Most developers and third parties who use Reddit's API have been notified by email, the company said.

Because the "family seating" plan is now filed with the government, American could face penalties if it doesn't follow through.
