Musk was expected at a “team huddle” with employees at the plant in the Gruenheide municipality, employee council chief Michaela Schmitz told regional broadcaster RBB's Inforadio channel. Production at Tesla’s plant in Gruenheide came to a standstill on Tuesday last week. The power outage came as environmental activists have been protesting in a forest near the plant against plans to expand the facility. That has drawn opposition from environmentalists and some other local groups, who also worry about possible effects on the area’s water supply.

Layoff announcements in February hit their highest level for the month since the global financial crisis, according to outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas. From a historical perspective, this was the worst February since 2009, which saw 186,350 announcements as the worst of the financial crisis was seemingly coming to an end. "As we navigate the start of 2024, we're witnessing a persistent wave of layoffs," said Andrew Challenger, the firm's labor and workplace expert. Layoff announcements at financial firms have risen 56% compared with the first two months of 2023. Sundaram, now CEO at Applied, is making it her mission to kill the résumé — or at least diminish its role in hiring. Sundaram wants other leaders to follow suit because our work bios — and even job experience — aren't always good predictors of who will succeed in a role. The company might use only five or six questions per test to help identify suitable job candidates. When employers do want to see a résumé, Applied can use AI to strip away information about gender and ethnicity. For her part, Sundaram expects AI will change how so many people work that job candidates' employment histories might often reflect a smorgasbord of experiences.
