“The global water crisis is a tragedy but is also an opportunity to transform the economics of water — and to start by valuing water properly so as to recognize its scarcity,” said Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization and one of the commission’s co-chairs in a statement. With nearly three billion people already in areas experiencing unstable water trends and several cities sinking due to the loss of below-ground water, densely populated areas such as northwestern India, northeastern China and southern and eastern Europe will bear the brunt of global water mismanagement, the report says. “The global water crisis is a ticking time bomb. Even so, a lack of public funds being devoted to water issues by lawmakers around the world will do little to solve the problem. Governments “can’t even react to the symptoms of the water problem, let alone solve the problems if they’re being fiscally strangled,” said UCL's Mazzucato.

OTTAWA, Canada — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Wednesday that India had made “a horrific mistake” by thinking it could interfere as aggressively as it allegedly did in Canada’s sovereignty. “The Indian government made a horrific mistake in thinking that they could interfere as aggressively as they did in the safety and sovereignty of Canada,” he told an independent inquiry into foreign interference in Canadian politics. In response, India’s foreign ministry issued a terse two-line statement, saying Trudeau’s deposition confirmed New Delhi’s stand that Canada had provided no evidence to support its allegations against Indian diplomats. “The responsibility for the damage that this cavalier behavior has caused to India-Canada relations lies with Prime Minister Trudeau alone,” the foreign ministry statement said. Trudeau said Ottawa could take further steps to ensure Canadians’ security but declined to give details.

The Chinese national flag flies outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing on July 26, 2023. A China-led 10-state regional group criticized what it called protectionist trade measures on Wednesday, part of an intensifying standoff between Beijing and Western countries over tariffs on Chinese products. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a Eurasian security and political group, also hit out at "unilateral sanctions" as member states Iran and Russia face curbs on trade. The statement said that the 10 member states, represented by seven prime ministers, "consider it important to continue joint efforts to counter protectionist trade measures that are contrary to WTO rules." Beijing has termed the moves discriminatory, and responded with similar actions as the standoff intensifies.

Having just lost a battle with Elon Musk over how India's satellite spectrum is awarded, Asia's richest man Mukesh Ambani could face a bigger challenge if Musk's Starlink launches services in India and the two go head-to-head on price. India's government said on Tuesday it will allocate spectrum for satellite broadband administratively and not via auction, hours after Musk criticized the auction route being sought by rival billionaire Ambani as "unprecedented." The Indian government says its decision to allocate spectrum administratively to whoever applies for it is in line with global trends. It has not set a timeframe for when the process will start but Musk's Starlink has already applied for necessary permits. Starlink's entry into the Indian market would create a new battleground between the two billionaires: pricing.

At the same time, he realized that he was mostly returning to San Francisco because he felt that was what was expected of him. “The (Colombian) culture is so kind, they don’t really like to say, ‘No,’” he says. “And I don’t ever want to come across as like I’m shading San Francisco or the United States in general. Since choosing to relocate to Colombia, Bennett has noticed a considerable change in his overall wellbeing and says he couldn’t be happier with how things have turned out.

CNN —Twin bomb threats hit Indian airliners on opposite sides of the globe on Tuesday, forcing an emergency landing in the Arctic and fighter jets to scramble in Asia – the latest in a series of similar hoax scares for the country’s airlines. On Tuesday, an Air India flight from New Delhi to Chicago made an emergency landing in Iqaluit, Canada’s northernmost city. Air India flight 127 was the “subject of a security threat posted online” and diverted “as a precautionary measure,” the airline said. Multiple flights by Indian carriers have been delayed or diverted due to false bomb threats since Monday. The Air India emergency landing in Canada comes as tensions rise between the two countries after Canada expelled six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, on Monday.

All had locally advanced cervical cancer, although none had tumors that had spread to other organs. This discovery led to the development of an HPV vaccine that can help prevent cervical cancer in women. Brawley stressed the importance of routine cervical screening as advanced-stage cervical cancer rises among White and Black women in the US. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cervical cancer screenings typically test for signs of HPV that can cause cell changes on the cervix. “Of the 4,400 deaths from cervical cancer, none of them get screened every year.”Chemotherapy to treat cervical cancer can come with unpleasant side effects like nausea, vomiting and hair loss, Brawley noted.

OTTAWA, Ontario — Canada expelled six Indian diplomats, including the high commissioner, on Monday, linking them to the murder of a Sikh separatist leader and alleging a broader effort to target Indian dissidents in Canada. Earlier in the day, India retaliated by ordering the expulsion of six high-ranking Canadian diplomats, including the acting high commissioner, and said it had withdrawn its envoy from Canada, contradicting Canada’s statement of expulsion. India said it had asked six Canadian diplomats to leave by Saturday. The ministry also said it had summoned Acting High Commissioner in India Stewart Wheeler, Canada’s top diplomat in the South Asian country. Therefore, the Government of India has decided to withdraw the High Commissioner and other targeted diplomats and officials,” India’s foreign ministry said in a statement.

Russian imports of goods from China surged in September. Russia relies heavily on China for trade due to Western sanctions and isolation from global markets. AdvertisementRussia's imports of goods from China increased sharply last month, a sign that Moscow is leaning more heavily on Beijing after the two countries affirmed their economic ties. The surge of trading activity follows a fresh cooperation agreement Russia and China finalized in late August, which vowed, among other things, to deepen trade ties. Moscow has grown more reliant on Beijing as an economic partner since being targeted by Western sanctions in 2022.

Net sales shed 4% year-on-year to 61.8 billion Swedish crowns in the third quarter, but nevertheless surpassed analyst expectations of near 61.6 billion, according to Reuters estimates. North America emerged as a bright spot in the sales picture, with year-on-year growth of more than 50%. "North America was the first to roll out 5G, and of course they were also the first to therefore slow down the pace.
