The attack came on the tenth anniversary of a deadly knife rampage on Taipei’s metro that shocked an island with a reputation for being generally safe, and led to the eventual execution of the man who carried out the attack. Three passengers were injured in the incident on Tuesday in Taichung and were taken to hospital, city’s mayor Lu Shiow-yen told reporters. “As we were pinning him down, another man pried (the attacker’s) fingers and took away the knife,” a female witness told journalists at the scene. “I saw him (the attacker) holding a cooking knife and later saw a fruit knife on the floor,” he said. The incident also happened on the ten-year anniversary of a similar stabbing attack in the Taipei metro which killed four people and injured over twenty.

Asked about when Navan would choose to go public, the firm's CEO and co-founder Ariel Cohen said the company is close to reaching that milestone. "We can see the signals," he said, adding that Navan has been adjusting its leadership structure and making changes to its board in a signal of maturity. Last month saw Navan announce the return of Rich Liu, formerly Navan's chief revenue officer and "an expert on scaling companies from seed to IPO and beyond," to the business as CEO of Navan Travel, the company's travel division. While Cohen wouldn't commit to a date for Navan's eventual IPO, he said the business was "not far" from being ready for a stock market listing. As investors navigate the Federal Reserve's higher-for-longer interest rate policy — and eventual rate cuts down the road — they should make sure they have their fixed-income portfolio positioned properly, according to Wells Fargo. The Fed last raised rates in July 2023, bringing the fed funds rate to a range of 5.25% to 5.5%. But investors were buoyed by news Wednesday that the consumer price index showed inflation eased slightly in April. Right now, Wells Fargo anticipates two rate cuts this year and just one in 2025, bringing the Fed's target rate to a range of 4.5% to 4.75% by the end of next year, said Scott Wren, senior global market strategist at Wells Fargo Investment Institute. Investors can get exposure to intermediate-term bonds through mutual funds or exchange-traded funds.

Raspberry Pi, which makes tiny single-board computers, is considering an initial public offering on the main market of the London Stock Exchange. The Arctic is of increasing geopolitical importance as climate change melts sea ice. The land is governed by the Svalbard Treaty. Knight FrankAn eventual buyer will in fact acquire Aktieselskabet Kulspids, a privately owned Norwegian limited company which owns the land. The purchaser will have to come from one of the 46 nations that have ratified the Svalbard Treaty, which established Norwegian sovereignty over the archipelago.
