Bryan Kohberger, the man accused in the murders of four University of Idaho students, was transported by plane Sunday morning from the Idaho county where he was being jailed to another county where his trial will be held. Latah County District Judge John Judge had ruled in favor of lawyers for Kohberger, 29, who argued a trial in Latah County would be unfair because of the intense pretrial publicity creating a "mob mentality" against the defendant. "While the issue of extensive, sensationalized coverage is not unique to Latah County," Judge added, "it is potentially more impactful given the volume of coverage coupled with the smaller population." Despite the change, Latah County prosecutors and Kohberger's public defenders are expected to remain through the trial. Some of the victims' families have expressed frustration over the trial's delay and had pressed for the case to remain in Latah County so that its residents could represent the jury.

Over the last year, a growing number of cinnamon products have been recalled in the U.S. due to high levels of lead. That prompted Consumer Reports to test brands such as Badia, McCormick and Morton & Bassett, along with smaller brands, across 17 mainstream and niche grocery stores. It found high levels of lead in 12 products, with levels reaching 3.5 parts per million. Paras cinnamon powder had the most lead, according to Consumer Reports, containing 3.52 ppm. The FDA has wound down some of its response efforts to its cinnamon applesauce investigation but will continue to monitor other products in stores for high lead levels.

By extension, the move in Washington, D.C. could also spell good news for Chinese stocks. High U.S. interest rates relative to China have made it fairly straightforward for global institutions to pick U.S. Treasurys over Chinese stocks. More than lower rates needed Other global investors say Chinese stocks need more than easier monetary policy to become truly attractive. The "government can push interest rates down, but if households don't want to spend the extra income, it won't go into the economy," he said. The Saints, one week after blowing out the lowly Carolina Panthers, did the same in Dallas to the high-flying Cowboys. The Ravens were in control for most of the game and then Davante Adams and Brock Bowers took over. The Ravens aren’t built to win when their defense softens — but that isn’t to say they won’t find ways to play the kind of defense the Ravens are known for. New York CNN —Mostly large US corporations are projecting an average increase in their base pay budgets of 3.9% for next year, according to a new survey of 300 compensation leaders across 11 major industries from The Conference Board. That is lower than the 4.4% average increase they paid out in 2023, which marked a 20-year high for base pay raises. But it is a tick up from the 3.8% bump that companies were paying out this year, according to The Conference Board. Base pay budget increases are typically viewed as a proxy for the average raises employees may receive. Actual base pay increases next year may be different if economic and business conditions change.

As the Fed lowers its benchmark rate, mortgage rates are likely to go down. Mortgage rates often trend up or down ahead of expected Fed moves, but once a hike or cut is priced in, they tend to hold steady unless the Fed surprises everyone. Haymore also notes that mortgage rates could fluctuate depending on other information that comes out of this upcoming meeting. As it does, mortgage rates should trend down, too (as will the rates banks pay on high-yield savings accounts). If you got your mortgage more recently, you could save on your mortgage payment by refinancing.
