The agency then completed a safety review on October 31 for SpaceX’s planned second test flight. That process concluded on November 14, according to a statement from the agency, allowing FAA to issue the launch permit. Both chambers of Congress need to pass spending legislation and send it to President Joe Biden to sign into law before then in order to avoid disruption. More significantly, it would avoid a partial shutdown that would disrupt a wide array of government services and furlough hundreds of thousands of federal workers. Tuesday's House vote was a victory for House Speaker Mike Johnson, who faced down opposition from some of his fellow Republicans who had pushed for deep spending cuts. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday said he supported the bill and vowed to bring it up for a vote as quickly as possible.

A fistfight nearly broke out in the US Senate on Tuesday but was stopped by Sen. Bernie Sanders. The last time there was actually a fight in the Senate, two Democrats brawled, hitting bystanders. The last time there was an actual fight in the Senate was in 1902, and it was so bad they changed the Senate's rules to ban insulting people. Tillman wasted no time reacting; he swung around and clocked McLaurin in the jaw, according to the Senate website. Both South Carolina senators were censured and a new rule was added that bans senators from calling each other corrupt.

Pichai was testifying in a separate lawsuit filed against Google by Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite. The Epic attorney then alleged that Google pays Samsung, Android's largest hardware partner, less than half of what it pays to Apple. Google's TAC costs include all of Google's payments to companies like Apple and Samsung to place its search engine in front of users. Apple, Google and Samsung did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment on Pichai's testimony.

Despite Trump’s much-vaunted travel ban, there was plenty of terrorism on his watch as the 45th president of the United States. Also, the most lethal antisemitic attack ever in the United States took place on October 27, 2018, when a terrorist killed eleven people at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. It seems, at least in Trump’s mind, that lethal acts of terrorism carried out by far-right terrorists don’t count as terrorism. Terrorism did not disappear with Trump, and his proposed “solution,” were he to become president again – amping up the Muslim travel ban – likely won’t accomplish much of anything. As Trump spends more time on the campaign trail, we will surely be seeing more factually challenged statements of this type.

The Rules Committee voted 9-7 - along party lines - to send the resolution for a vote in the full Senate. Schumer halted progress on the Senate's proposed funding plan, a step that would allow the House to move first. This may encourage some House Democrats to back the plan if hardline Republicans deny Speaker Mike Johnson the votes for the bill he has proposed. Johnson has proposed a short-term funding bill, known as a continuing resolution or CR, that would keep spending at fiscal year 2023 levels until January and February for different parts of the government.
