  + stars: | 2023-08-08 | by ( Hafsa Khalil | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +3 min
CNN —Wayne Brady, known for hosting the TV show “Let’s Make a Deal,” has announced that he is pansexual. “I advocate mental health for all and a part of that is self transparency. Brady began his self-discovery journey after actor Robin Williams’ death in 2014, when he became vocal about mental health, he told People. On social media, Brady called it “ironic” that he frequently brings joy to others on TV, but doesn’t experience it much himself. “If I’m healthy, then I can go onstage at ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ and be the best Wayne Brady that everybody wants and expects … and one day, the best partner to someone, because I’m doing this for me,” he told People.

Six years later, Barb was 20 and in college when someone else in the family needed help. Her sister Christy was the second-born, 24 years older than Barb and the star of the family in many ways. Christy wasn’t sad or delusional; she wasn’t even upset. It was more as if she were reverting to a childlike state, losing her knack for self-regulation. Her personality was diluting — on its way out, with seemingly nothing to replace it.

The new campaign by the group working to pass the August measure, called Protect Women Ohio, includes a $4.5 million expenditure on two new 30-second television ads, as well as $1 million on statewide radio and digital ads. The ads continue a strategy by the group to tie the Aug. 8 measure, as well as a November ballot measure that would enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution, to parental rights restrictions. Protect Women Ohio’s ads and statements also argue that the presence of ACLU of Ohio in the pro-amendment coalition is evidence of a push beyond abortion rights. The group has also, so far, committed $25 million for ads to oppose the November ballot measure. If voters pass the threshold measure in August, then the proposed abortion rights amendment in November would need 60% support from voters to pass.

July 27 (Reuters) - Fox is expected to announce soon that television's Emmys will be rescheduled to air in January next year due to strikes by writers and actors in the United States, the Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday, citing a person familiar with the plans. The strikes were expected to delay the Emmys ceremony beyond its normal September date. Variety reported earlier on Thursday that vendors for the Emmys Awards had been informed of the imminent date change. Fox declined to comment while the Television Academy did not immediately respond to Reuters. The fallout from the Hollywood actors’ and writers’ strikes continues. The 75th Emmy Awards will be postponed because of the strikes, according to a person briefed on the plans. Emmy organizers are hopeful that would give the Hollywood studios enough time to settle the labor disputes. The writers have now been on strike for 88 days and have not returned to the bargaining table with the major Hollywood studios since negotiations broke down in early May. By the time tens of thousands of actors joined the writers on picket lines and went on strike on July 14, it all but put a nail in the coffin for an Emmys ceremony in September.

His travel extended well outside of traditional hot spots for a primary campaign, including events in Wisconsin and Oklahoma. Now, DeSantis’ political operation says it is embracing his position as an underdog. But that leaves questions about one of the largest expenses on DeSantis’ first quarter fundraising reports: private travel. DeSantis’ campaign has paid nearly half a million dollars in travel expenses to a company that didn’t exist until two days before he launched his White House bid. In guidance to some donors and supporters, the campaign foreshadowed that they expect these interactions to show DeSantis’ “fiery” side.

CNN —Bob Iger is seeking to reassure an anxious arm of Disney’s business. In an off-site meeting on Tuesday, the Disney chief executive spoke to senior leaders of the company’s television businesses, CNN has learned. And it comes as no surprise that Iger believes the content produced by the television production teams holds incredible value. The important question is — and always has been — whether the linear television businesses are crucial to Disney, particularly as Iger positions the company for the future. Members of the Writers Guild of America walk a picket line outside of Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif., in May. Like the striking writers, leaders of SAG-AFTRA, the actors’ union, have described their labor dispute in stark terms, calling the present moment “existential” for their members. But the core issues have been about compensation, as well as the use of artificial intelligence. The actors also have grave concerns about artificial intelligence, and how the technology could be used to replicate their performances using their previous work without their being compensated or consulted. Tara Kole, a lawyer with the entertainment law firm Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, which represents actors like Emma Watson and Ashley Judd, said in an interview that the potential use of artificial intelligence was “terrifying” to actors.

Disney is slowing down when it comes to making movies and TV series for its Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm franchises, CEO Bob Iger said on CNBC Thursday. Iger said Thursday that a lot of decisions were made to prop up the company's flagship streaming service, Disney+, and beckon more customers. It had not been in the television business at any significant level, and not only did they increase their movie output, but they ended up making a number of TV series," said Iger. Disney acquired Marvel for more than $4 billion in 2009, and the franchise has since grossed billions of dollars at the global box office for the company.

Terms of his contract include opportunity to receive an annual incentive bonus of five times his base salary. In his previous contract, he was entitled to an estimated $27 million per year in total compensation.
