WASHINGTON (AP) — Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith warned Tuesday that former President Donald Trump's “daily” statements risk tainting a jury pool in Washington in the criminal case charging him with scheming to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Trump's provocative comments about both Smith's team and U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan — who is presiding over the case — have been a central issue since the indictment was filed last month. Prosecutors have repeatedly signaled their concerns about the impact of Trump's social media posts and Chutkan explicitly warned Trump against inflammatory remarks that could intimidate witnesses or contaminate potential jurors. Chutkan agreed with the Trump team that it should have time to respond to the Justice Department's filings and set deadlines for next week. But Chutkan later issued an order granting Trump's motion. She told defense lawyers to respond to the prosecutors' motion to file their document under seal by Monday.

A judge set former President Donald Trump's bond at $200,000 in the Georgia criminal case accusing him of conspiring to overturn his loss in the state's 2020 election, a court filing showed Monday. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee set Trump's bond for the racketeering charge at $80,000, while the remaining 12 counts each received bond amounts of $10,000, the court filing shows. McAfee set a $100,000 bond for John Eastman, the pro-Trump lawyer who is charged with nine counts in the Georgia case. Kenneth Chesebro, another pro-Trump lawyer and co-defendant, had his bond set at $100,000 on one count of racketeering and six counts of criminal conspiracy. Ray Smith's bond was set at $50,000, while the judge set a $10,000 bond for Scott Hall.

Palo Alto Networks — Shares of the cybersecurity company edged 1.8% lower in premarket trading Friday. Palo Alto Networks' fiscal fourth-quarter earnings are expected to come out Friday afternoon. Analysts surveyed by FactSet's StreetAccount called for $1.96 billion in revenue and earnings per share of $1.29. The company reported adjusted earning per share of 7 cents, while analysts surveyed by Refinitiv had forecast a loss of 4 cents per share.
