CNN —Stellantis’ new Ramcharger pickup, expected to go on sale late next year, will be an “electric” truck, the company says. It will be sold alongside the Ram REV, the company’s actual fully-electric truck, expected to go on sale around the same time. Tim Kuniskis, the head of Stellantis’ Ram truck brand, insisted during a press conference that the Ram 1500 Ramcharger is not a plug-in hybrid. Also, the Ram truck can use DC fast chargers to quickly recharge its batteries. Ram previously unveiled an electric-only truck, the Ram REV, which will also go on sale late next year.

Selling more hybrid and electric trucks and improving the fuel efficiency of Ram combustion models is critical to Chrysler parent Stellantis. A Hemi V-8 will still be offered in Ram heavy-duty trucks. The company has not disclosed future production plans for light-duty Ram Classic trucks, which are based on previous generation Ram designs. This week, the city publicized its winter efforts, including providing 16 “warming buses” at police stations during overnight hours, and winter coats for new arrivals.
