With Election Day around the corner, there's been just shy of $1 billion spent on political ads up and down the ballot in the last week, data from the ad-tracking firm AdImpact shows. The most expensive race over the last week is, unsurprisingly, the presidential race, where more than $272 million has been spent on ads, according to data from AdImpact. There's been more than $267 million spent on ads in down-ballot races, meaning all of the other races outside of races for president, governor and Congress. The final undecided voters could sway the election. But in a narrowly divided presidential election, voters who have put off making a decision until the last minute could find themselves with the power to decide the future of the country. Late-deciding voters broke for Trump in 2020 and 2016, with some analysts and strategists in both campaigns crediting them for electing Trump eight years ago. And it was true in 2020, when the pandemic and debates played an oversize role in the election featuring Trump and Joe Biden.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said Friday that her office is investigating whether former President Donald Trump’s violent remarks about former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney broke the law. A spokesman for the attorney general's office, Richie Taylor, confirmed to NBC News the office is "looking into" whether Trump's remarks violated Arizona law. NBC News reached out to the Trump campaign for comment. Trump has escalated his violent rhetoric on the campaign trail in the last month. Two starkly different House candidates, in separate races, personify the intensifying ideological partitioning occurring within the once strongly Democratic constituency of Latino voters, whose numbers are growing. Their highly competitive races, along with a few other California congressional races, have pushed Latino voters to the front lines of the bitter fight for control of the House. “We have centered on Latino voters in our campaign,” said Whitesides, whose wife is of Cuban and Salvadoran heritage. In the same poll, 52% of Latino voters in District 27 said they support Whitesides, compared to 24% for Garcia and 24% completely undecided. In the last presidential election, Latino turnout was very high, and now it “actually is approaching the turnout rate for non-Latinos,” Vargas said.

But the former president, no stranger to personal attacks, reserved his most violent comments for former Rep. Liz Cheney. In a lengthy and uncompromising riff on Cheney, Trump seemed to insinuate that the former congresswoman would be less of a “war hawk” — as Trump referred to her — if she was in a war herself with guns “trained on her face.”“She’s a radical war hawk. You know when the guns are trained on her face — you know, they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building,” Trump continued. In the aftermath of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, the relationship between Trump and Cheney frayed. Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, one of the architects of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, have endorsed Harris over Trump.

Elon Musk's ownership has shifted X's political stance, affecting Democratic ad spending. X switched political ads back on last year as it looked to recoup lost revenue after a brand exodus. AdvertisementWhile some Democratic political advertisers — including Kamala Harris' presidential campaign — have stopped spending on X altogether, a small number are holding firm. It ceased taking political advertising in 2019 under former CEO Jack Dorsey; Musk reversed that decision last year.
