CNN —Rhyker Earl’s family says he had been living with seizures for more than seven years. But what began as a routine encounter with Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies and EMTs from nearby Keener Township that evening ended in tragedy. Less than 30 minutes after deputies arrived at his home, video shows Earl stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated. The footage shows first responders discussed whether Earl had taken illicit drugs because the sedatives were not working. CNN —A SpaceX mission due to take flight Saturday aims to unite the Boeing Starliner astronauts with the spacecraft that will bring them home. NASA’s Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have already been on the International Space Station more than 100 days longer than expected. The two rode the Starliner to the International Space Station in early June for what was expected to be about a weeklong test flight. At liftoff, Hague and Gorbunov will be strapped inside the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, nicknamed Freedom, as it sits atop a Falcon 9 rocket. Gorbunov and Hague will join them after docking with the space station, set for Sunday.

TOYKO — A Japanese man said to have spent the world’s longest time on death row was cleared in a retrial of the 1966 murders of four people on Thursday, ending his family’s search for justice for a wrongful conviction. On Thursday, the Shizuoka district court acquitted the former boxer. He spent 48 years behind bars — more than 45 of them on death row — making him the world’s longest-serving death row inmate, according to the rights group, Amnesty International.
