CNN —This week, by far the most feverishly discussed outfit didn’t come from a member of the Kardashian clan or an off-duty model. Instead, it was Kristina Avakyan (known on TikTok as @subwaysessions), a New York resident who pushed the boundaries of style with a look that was anything but average. In a TikTok that’s now been watched over 1.9 million times, Avakyan paces across her runway (the 6 train subway platform) in what has become a deeply polarizing outfit. The outfit has been seen over 1.9 million times on TikTok and 62 million times on Twitter this week. The phrase “#personalstyle” has more than 858 million views on TikTok, and in 2022 the New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman wrote about how to capture it.

Kardashian was spotted at the Emirates Stadium in March to watch Arsenal. He is obsessed with soccer, and I will do anything for my babies, so I travel the world. July 21 (Reuters) - Lionel Messi made a rousing debut for Major League Soccer's Inter Miami as he scored a stoppage-time winner to beat Liga MX's Cruz Azul 2-1 on Friday in their Leagues Cup opener in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After the goal, Messi ran toward the right corner of the field with his arms spread wide and then headed to the sidelines on the other side where he shared a hug with his family. But Messi, seven months removed from leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar, got his chance to shine once again. "As soon as I saw the free kick given I thought this is the way it's meant to end," said Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham. Messi's Miami debut coincidentally came 16 years to the day after Beckham played his first game for MLS side LA Galaxy.

This latest round was led by Wellington Management, a firm known for taking companies public. Jens Grede, Skim’s CEO, recently told Dealbook that stock investors have shown an increased interest in consumer-oriented businesses like Skims and that an IPO is something the company wants. “At some point in the future, Skims deserves to be a public company,” he said. If a Skims IPO were to succeed, “companies, CFOs and investors in general will see this as a very positive sign,” said Sokhi. Netflix posted nearly $8.19 billion in revenue for the quarter, compared to the $8.3 billion Wall Street had projected.

There were the babydoll dresses that few besides the actress Mia Farrow ever wore with greater élan. “Her style was very different from American style,” Ms. Sui said, and it introduced “something new to our fashion vocabulary.” What exactly was it about that style, the designer was asked? Perhaps, in the end, the Hermès Birkin bag provides the best example. Before its invention, Ms. Birkin was often photographed toting a straw marketbasket crammed with makeup, keys and assorted paraphernalia. “I would love to have been a sort of neat person and wear a Kelly,” Ms. Birkin once explained, referring to a prim, boxy-style handbag created and named for the film star Grace Kelly.

New York CNN —Fran Drescher, the president of the SAG-AFTRA union, is facing criticism for traveling to Italy to attend Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda festivities this past weekend as her 160,000-member actors union faces a Thursday deadline to go on strike. And we are concerned by the idea that SAG-AFTRA members may be ready to make sacrifices that leadership is not. An actors strike would bring most remaining productions to a halt, other than on some independent films not associated with studios. There has been no visible progress in ending the writers strike since it started on May 2. This could be the first actors strike against television shows and movie productions since 1980.

The results underscore the risk Meta poses to Twitter’s business and raise questions about how, or if, Twitter can stem its losses. Twitter traffic had already been trending downward for months, according to data from the internet infrastructure company Cloudflare and the web analytics firm Similarweb. “Twitter traffic tanking,” Prince said as he posted the chart. A Twitter rival but not quite a Twitter replacementFueling Threads’ rapid growth has been Meta’s use of Instagram as a springboard to sign up new users, along with what many Threads users have identified as a dissatisfaction with Twitter. But after a Threads user pointed out that the new app was not featured in Twitter’s trending topics tab, Zuckerberg replied “Concerning” with a crying-laughter emoji.

PARIS– It was unclear in December 2022 if the creative director Demna would weather the storm of controversy whipping around Balenciaga. The French luxury brand was pilloried for being exploitative after its holiday campaign showed images of children with teddy bears in bondage-evoking straps. One photo showed a court document upholding a Supreme Court decision condemning child pornography. Outraged influencers destroyed Balenciaga gear; Kim Kardashian waffled in her support for the label; sales dipped. The brand, owned by luxury conglomerate Kering, said any association was unintentional and apologized repeatedly.

While Threads is a standalone app, users can log in using their Instagram credentials, which makes it an easy addition for Instagram's more than 2 billion monthly active users. Twitter, by comparison, had 229 million monthly active users in May 2022, according to a statement made before Musk's buyout of the social media platform. Mastodon, another Twitter-like app, has 1.7 million monthly active users, according to its website, while Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey-backed Bluesky has about 265,000 users. Threads does not have hashtags and keyword search functions, which means users cannot follow real-time events like on Twitter. Overall, analysts said Threads was a strong competitor to Twitter, which has been rocked by abrupt decisions by Musk.

Welcome to Threads," Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote in his first post on the app, along with a fire emoji. Others saw the launch of Threads as an opportunity to create a less toxic version of Twitter. Much like Twitter, the app features short text posts that users can like, re-post and reply to, although it does not include any direct message capabilities. Instagram users who sign up for Threads automatically have a badge affixed to their Instagram profile, but can opt to hide it. Zuckerberg, responding to a user who predicted Twitter's demise about an hour after the Threads launch, cautioned patience.

CNN —Taylor Swift signed onto a lucrative touring partnership with FTX before its collapse, but FTX pulled out of the arrangement, according to a person familiar with the discussions. Bankman-Fried has been accused of orchestrating one of the biggest financial frauds in US history, allegedly costing investors billions of dollars and improperly using customer funds from his cryptocurrency exchange, FTX. But a person familiar with the Swift discussions said the artist’s side had agreed to a $100 million tour sponsorship deal, but the deal was never finalized due to hesitation on FTX’s side. Other celebrities, including Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, Steph Curry, and Naomi Osaka, signed deals with FTX, which declared bankruptcy last fall. Meta launched Threads social media platform — its answer to Twitter — on Wednesday. 10 million users signed up for Threads in the first seven hours of its launch, per CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Analysts say it could be tough for Threads to outshine Twitter's existing power user base. And even though Threads launching at an advantageous time, at least four Wall Street analysts say it could be challenging to outshine the incumbent. After all, it could be difficult to get Twitter users to move, Billy Duberstein, a portfolio manager at Stone Oak Capital, wrote on the Motley Fool website on Wednesday.

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/IllustrationLONDON, July 6 (Reuters) - Meta (META.O), the company behind social media giants Facebook and Instagram, has launched its new microblogging platform Threads. Threads accounts are synched to Instagram at the outset, allowing users to keep their usernames and retain followers. One thing Threads has not copied from Twitter is the ability to message other users directly, but Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg promises there are updates to come. The launch of Threads coincides with a series of decisions by Twitter owner Elon Musk that have sparked controversy, including limiting the number of posts users could see.

Meta is promoting its new app, Threads, with strong links to Instagram — but so far it is missing most of the app's biggest users. Just six of the top 20 most-followed Instagram accounts have signed up to the Twitter-competitor app so far. It also looks like @instagram is the only account to reach 1 million followers on Threads, as of Thursday morning. That makes sense considering it's also the most-followed account on Instagram with 645 million followers, but the next six-biggest accounts are yet to appear on Threads. Mark Zuckerberg said 10 million users signed up to Threads in the first seven hours.
