NATO officials say they are preparing for the US to take on a lesser role. “I’m very worried,” the NATO official said. But that mechanism, known as NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine, is not yet fully operational and won’t be for several more months, another NATO official said on Friday. Russia alone is producing around 3 million munitions per year, while NATO collectively is producing less than 2 million annually, NATO officials said on Thursday. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Thursday that he was confident the alliance “will not lose” its unity when it comes to Ukraine.

Apple first showed off the Apple Vision Pro in June 2023, hoping developers would build awesome apps for it when it went on sale in January. Specifically: Where are the apps for the Apple Vision Pro, the $3,500 headset Apple introduced earlier this year? This is a question we've asked repeatedly, and the answer seems to be pretty consistent: Developers aren't leaping to build anything for Apple Vision Pro because they don't think many people are using Apple Vision Pro. But if developers don't build for the Apple Vision Pro, then there's never going to be any reason for people to buy an Apple Vision Pro. Overall, there are about 1,770 apps for the Vision Pro in Apple's App Store , according to Appfigures' count.

New York CNN —The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has launched an investigation into the safety of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving feature, or FSD, after at least one fatal accident involving a pedestrian. The investigation is looking into four accidents involving vehicles using the FSD feature. FSD is at the center of Tesla’s plans for future growth and profitability. This is not the first time that the NHTSA has announced it is investigating Tesla’s self-driving features. In February 2023 the agency ordered a recall to change the FSD software on all of the more than 360,000 Teslas then on US roads with the feature.

CNN —America’s largest drug store chain named a new chief executive officer on Friday, with longtime CVS Health executive David Joyner replacing Karen Lynch. In August, rising costs at CVS’ insurance arm Aetna cut into profits, leading to the ousting of then-president Brian Kane. Charles Krupa/AP/FileLower reimbursement rates for prescription drugs have hit retail pharmacies, including Walgreens and Rite-Aid, resulting in flagging profits and forcing drug stores to shutter locations and cut jobs. Meanwhile, rival chain Walgreens is closing 1,200 stores as it faces competition from online pharmacies and larger retailers — another challenge facing drug stores. Our results need to show that more consistently,” a CVS Health spokesperson told CNN in a statement.

Grant said stocks could soon enter a period of weak returns, possibly for "many years." AdvertisementThe bull market in stocks looks like it's close to the top, according to an investment chief. AdvertisementSentiment and position indicators are also flashing signs investors are overexcited about the stock market, Grant said. The 3-month moving average of year-ahead stock market expectations has climbed to its highest on record, according to Conference Board data. That suggests there's little "cushion" in the event the stock market declines or experiences a shock, Grant said.
