Some of the main winners of the AI boom will be stocks currently sliding under the radar. Across the road, ground has been broken on another data center. This specifically means data centers, which will be increasingly key for storing information as AI becomes more mainstream. On a single-stock basis, Digital Realty Trust — the only data center real estate investment trust listed on the New York Stock Exchange — has jumped 38% over the last year, while the Global X Data Center & Digital Infrastructure ETF has climbed 12%. Mortonson says it's difficult for software companies to build around AI.

The aerial view reveals the mutual benefits of combining solar energy production and agricultural land use. Farmers can lease their land to solar energy developers, diversifying their income streams while maintaining agricultural activities on the remaining areas. Google will partner with BlackRock to develop a 1 gigawatt pipeline of new solar capacity in Taiwan, the U.S. tech giant announced Monday as it seeks to boost energy capacity and cut carbon emissions amid the artificial intelligence boom. The new solar capacity will help power Google's data centers and cloud region in Taiwan, the press release said. Some of the clean energy capacity will also be offered to Google's chip suppliers and manufacturers in the region, it said.

London CNN —A British startup may have found the answer to one of the frustrations of driving an electric car — waiting around for the battery to charge. That is much faster than the 20 minutes or so it currently takes some electric cars using a fast charger, such as a Tesla (TSLA) Supercharger. Nyobolt’s battery is compatible with a Supercharger, the startup told CNN. “This is many multiples higher than the warranties of much larger EV batteries on the road today,” it noted. In addition, there are currently “a lot of unknowns” with the niobium battery technology, he told CNN.

Apple, Nvidia, Qualcomm, AMD, and most other chip designers rely on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to make these crucial components. Demand for solar jobs is growing in response to clean-energy goals and government incentives. Many entry-level solar jobs don't require higher education, and they offer on-the-job training. Solar jobs offer a low barrier to entry and high growth potentialHowever, the shortage means there are many affordable, accelerated solar training programs designed to help people get their foot in the door. Collardson added that people with backgrounds in areas such as marketing, engineering, and law could apply their skills to jobs at solar companies. HelieneThe solar industry can support long-term careersWhile Collardson acknowledged that specific solar jobs could grow or shrink as incentives and demands change, they said they believe there will always be jobs in the solar industry for those willing to be flexible.

The expected demand from data centers and electric vehicles in the U.S. is equivalent to the entire electricity demand of Turkey, the world's 18th largest economy, according to Rystad. NextEra Energy , parent of Skantze's subsidiary, is the largest power company in the S&P utilities sector by market capitalization and it operates the biggest portfolio of renewable energy assets in the nation. They need this load to drive the next iteration of growth," Skantze told the Reuters Global Energy Transition conference in New York City this week. 'Energy security brings national security'Southern Company , the second-largest utility in the U.S. by market cap, is also seeing a historic wave of electricity demand. Tech companies plan on spending over $1 trillion on artificial intelligence. But the return on investment may take a long time and be disappointing, Goldman Sachs says. As companies prepare to spend over $1 trillion on artificial intelligence, a Goldman Sachs report examined the big question at hand: "Will this large spend ever pay off?" That sizable investment will go toward the data centers needed to run AI, the power grid, and AI chips. But shortages of those AI ingredients could lead to disappointing returns for companies.

It's tough to find growth stocks selling at a reasonable valuation, but searching for companies whose bottom lines are still expanding but not too richly priced could give investors a leg up entering the second half of the year. With the S & P 500 ahead by 15% in the first half alone and the S & P and Nasdaq Composite both near all-time highs, now might be the time for investors to adjust their portfolios accordingly. With that in mind, one time-tested strategy to consider is screening for stocks that offer growth at a reasonable price, or GARP, combining tenets from both value and growth investing. CNBC Pro recently screened for stocks in the S & P 500 that fit the GARP approach. With a year-to-date rally of 11%, electric company Emerson Electric was also on the list of GARP stocks.

Since its inconclusive 2006 war with the Lebanese militant group, Israel has been planning for a re-match. During the 2006 war, in the experience of this correspondent, it was rare to encounter Hezbollah fighters. In the event of war, full-scale war, both sides will be able to inflict significant pain on the other. In the entire 34-day war of 2006 Hezbollah is estimated to have fired around 4,000 rockets – a daily average of 117. At 6 a.m. on July 13, 2006 – less than 24 hours after the start of the war – Israeli warplanes bombed and knocked out Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The technology to store renewable energy for long periods hasn’t quite been mastered, either. The interconnector would send renewable energy both east and west, taking advantage of the sun’s diurnal journey across the sky. The transatlantic interconnector is still a proposal, but networks of green energy cables are starting to sprawl across the world’s sea beds. They are fast becoming part of a global climate solution, transmitting large amounts of renewable energy to countries struggling to make the green transition alone. Not all of them carry renewable power exclusively — that’s sometimes determined by what makes up each country’s energy grid — but new ones are typically being built for a green energy future.

The City of Wichita recently had an experience that's become all too common — its water system was hacked. The cyberattack, which targeted water metering, billing and payment processing, followed the targeting of water utilities across the U.S. in recent years. While the methods may be simple, an attack last year by an Iranian-backed activist group against 12 water utilities in the U.S. reinforced how purposeful "an attacker's mindset" can be, according to Witt. The targeted utilities all contained equipment that was Israeli-made. Attacks on U.S. water utilities' IT systems can have a similar psychological impact, and even if the attacks don't directly interfere with the operations of the utility, still lessen public trust in water supply.

New York CNN —Following the success of Connections and Wordle, the pressure was on for the New York Times to find its next hit game. It “bubbled up as a version of a word search that was true to the New York Times’ games,” Knight said. The Times’ research of its subscribers found that Wordle players also solve word search games, making Strands a natural addition to its lineup. That’s another part of the game, Knight said, because it challenges some people not to use the hints. Times’ Games app lets people play some puzzles, like Wordle and Strands, for free.

CNN —Forecasters will soon be able to see real-time mapping of lightning activity on Earth and keep a closer eye on solar storms unleashed by the sun thanks to a new weather satellite. The weather satellite lifted off aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 5:26 p.m. What sets GOES-U apart from other satellites is that it’s carrying a new capability to keep an eye on space weather. The coronagraph will provide continuous observations of the solar corona, or the hot outer layer of the sun’s atmosphere, which is where space weather events originate, said Elsayed Talaat, director of NOAA’s Office of Space Weather Observations. The instrument’s capabilities will allow NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center to issue warnings and watches one to four days in advance and “mark a new chapter in space weather observatoions,” Talaat said.

In its latest commentary, the bank took aim at the growing misalignment between index-level and individual stock performance. At the same time, the number of individual names reaching fresh lows is at bear market levels, the note added.

In 2020 the Puerto Rican government transferred management of the electric grid to a newly minted Canadian-American private company, Luma Energy. It promised to bring clean, reliable energy to Puerto Rico after the state-owned Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority filed for bankruptcy and Hurricane Maria knocked out the island’s ailing electric grid.
