Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump shared his thoughts about Biden's speech on his social media platform, Truth Social. Neither Biden nor first lady Jill Biden was present during the search, according to Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president. The White House only disclosed that discovery on Jan. 9. On Dec. 20, a small number of classified records were found in the garage of Biden's Wilmington home. Friday's search was the first time revealed publicly that federal law enforcement authorities have conducted a search for government documents at Biden's private addresses. Biden and the White House have been criticized for the two-month lag in disclosing the discovery of the first batch of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington.
A lesion that was found and removed during first lady Jill Biden's outpatient surgery last week was a "non-cancerous growth," according to a medical memo her press secretary released Wednesday. The lesion, found on Biden's left eyelid, had been sent out for a traditional biopsy, said Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the physician to the president. Results from the biopsy were "consistent with seborrheic keratosis,” O'Connor said in Wednesday's memo. He described the biopsied lesion as a "very common, totally harmless non-cancerous growth" that did not require further treatment. O’Connor said at the time that the procedure was a success and that “all cancerous tissue was successfully removed.”
REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst/File PhotoWASHINGTON, Jan 12 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's legal team has discovered a second set of classified documents from his time as vice president at a storage space in the garage of his home in Wilmington, Delaware, the White House said on Thursday. The discoveries have presented legal and political headaches for Biden as he prepares for an expected 2024 re-election campaign in the upcoming months. There are differences between the revelation that Biden's legal team found classified documents in his properties and the ongoing Justice Department investigation into former President Donald Trump's refusal to hand over classified documents taken from the White House. When he finally handed over 15 boxes of records in January 2022, the Archives discovered more than 100 were marked as classified. It referred the matter to the Justice Department in the spring and a special counsel has been named to oversee the investigation.

It was the kind of exclamation that would feel entirely normal if only "gas stove" was replaced with another object of the culture wars. A peer-reviewed study published in December linked 12.7% of childhood asthma cases in the US to air pollutants released by gas stoves. Some researchers have also found gas stoves have a greater impact on climate change by releasing more greenhouse gas emissions. "Did you know that ongoing exposure to NO2 from gas stoves is linked to reduced cognitive performance," she wrote. "Gas stoves for me but not for thee," the tweet said alongside the photos.

U.S. President Joe Biden returns alone to the White House after accompanying first lady Jill Biden as she underwent Mohs surgery to remove cancerous skin lesions, in Washington, U.S., January 11, 2023. Classified government documents from the Obama administration were found in a storage space in the garage of President Joe Biden's Delaware home, Biden said Thursday. Less than a dozen classified documents had been found in the first batch. "People know I take classified documents and classified materials seriously," Biden said. The president said the DOJ was immediately notified about the latest discovery, "and we're going to see how all this unfolds."
First lady Jill Biden had two cancerous lesions removed Wednesday, the White House doctor said in a memo. "The procedure confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma," Dr. Kevin O'Connor said in a statement afterwards. O'Connor said that "as anticipated," Biden "is experiencing some facial swelling and bruising" after the outpatient procedure, "but is in good spirits and is feeling well. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer and is easily treatable if detected early. O'Connor noted that basal cell carcinoma lesions "do not tend to 'spread' or metastasize, as some more serious skin cancers such as melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma are known to do.
All cancerous tissue was removed, the White House physician said. Jill Biden went to the hospital for removal of a skin lesion above her right eye. "All cancerous tissue was successfully removed, and the margins were clear of any residual skin cancer cells. "Again, all cancerous tissue was successfully removed," O'Connor said. President Biden "wanted to be there to support her," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
The president's physician, Kevin O’Connor, said in the memo that a "small lesion" was found above Biden's right eye during a routine skin cancer screening. According to the American Cancer Society, Mohs surgery involves removing a very thin layer of the skin, including the lesion, and checking the sample under a microscope. If cancer cells are found, additional layers of skin are removed until samples are free from cancer cells. Jill Biden, 71, has been an advocate of cancer prevention and treatment, and teamed up with the American Cancer Society in October to launch roundtables on breast and cervical cancer. Her scheduled surgery comes roughly a year after she vowed to “end the tragedy of cancer as we know it,” by working to support cancer patients and their families and encouraging Americans to prioritize cancer screenings.
The appearance with McConnell, R-Ky., and other regional leaders from both parties Wednesday signals a dual focus for a White House aiming to stay above the political fray in 2023. But the bipartisan infrastructure law will be front and center as the White House says 20,000 new projects funded by the law will be underway in the year ahead. On Thursday, White House infrastructure coordinator Mitch Landrieu will visit San Francisco, one week after outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the city’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge will undergo a $400 million retrofit funded by the law. “I’ve never been more optimistic about America in my whole career,” Biden said during an appearance on ABC’s New Year’s Eve special. When asked Friday about whether the 2024 election has come up in discussions this week, Biden quipped: “There’s an election coming up?"
