Dr. Noreen Galaria, 49, is a dermatologist who offers filler treatments to clients to plump up skin. Instead, she uses sunscreen, retinoids, antioxidants, and exercise to boost her skin's collagen. While she offers filler treatments to her clients, Dr. Noreen Galaria, a dermatologist in Virginia, has never used them herself. To keep her skin smooth and firm, she uses skincare products like sunscreen and retinol, incorporates antioxidants into her diet, and regularly works out. When Galaria injects filler, she normally uses a maximum of one to two syringes about the amount of a "fat blueberry."

You don't need to know exactly how you'll use your retirement savings — instead, focus on timing. I recently spoke with my financial planner, Liz Schieck, about investing and saving for retirement. I asked her what she's hearing from clients, particularly millennials and Gen Z clients, about best practices. Current trends around investing and retirementMany new clients at Schieck's firm first reach out because they want to discuss saving for retirement. Schieck believes that you don't always have to know what you're saving for.

It should put a damper on just how much we should expect the next president to accomplish, especially if the divide is between the House and the White House. There’s a big difference in just how divided government becomes, depending on whether the House and the White House are controlled by the same party or different parties. Two words send chills down the spine of any presidents who find the “other” party in control of the House: subpoena power. Both Trump and Joe Biden saw the second halves of their terms (after they lost control of the House) essentially paralyzed by an oppositional House. First, because California House races will determine overall House control, it could take as much as two or three weeks before we know the makeup of Congress in 2025 for sure.

The dietitian for the Philadelphia Eagles shares how players get enough protein to perform their best. Feeding players for success involves balancing macronutrients like carbs and protein, according to Roman Montijo, performance chef and registered dietitian for the Philadelphia Eagles. "Right now quinoa and bone broth, both great sources of protein, are team favorites," Montijo said.

Since 1960, the average U.S. life span has increased to 77.5 from roughly 70 years old, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But "health spans" are simultaneously shrinking. As a result, there's a "widening gap" between one's life and health spans, she said. How health impacts wealthFatcamera | E+ | Getty ImagesOf course, this isn't to say healthy people avoid significant medical expenses. Prioritize the spending on your health and, if it feels like too much money, try to cut back on spending that "doesn't increase your health span," she said.

Fourteen attorneys general, led by officials in New York and California, filed lawsuits Tuesday accusing the social media platform TikTok of damaging young users’ mental health and collecting their data without consent. “Young people are struggling with their mental health because of addictive social media platforms like TikTok,” New York Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement. In recent years, a growing number of health professionals have sounded the alarm about the effects of excessive social media use on mental and physical health, particularly among children and teenagers. Earlier this year, the Senate Judiciary Committee grilled the CEOs of TikTok, Meta and X during a hearing about online child safety and youth mental health. But the service’s rise has been shadowed by concerns about mental health, as well as national security.

By contrast, the modern day Democrats’ historic success at winning the popular vote hasn’t translated into nearly as much governing power for them. Over this record run of popular vote success, Democrats have already twice lost the Electoral College – and thus the White House – while winning more votes. Amazingly, Republicans won unified control of government in two elections when Democrats won a plurality of the national presidential vote: 2000 and 2016. The Democrats’ popular vote winning stretch began in 1992 with Clinton’s victory over George H.W. The highest share of the popular vote Democrats have won over this period is the 52.9% that Obama garnered in 2008.

Blood pressure readings may not be accurate unless a person’s arm is positioned correctly, a new study suggests. “There was a chance that arm position was not important,” she said. The blood pressure cuff should be positioned at mid-heart level. To learn whether arm position made a difference in blood pressure readings, Brady and her colleagues recruited 133 adults, 78% of them Black and 52% female. “There is a pretty significant difference in blood pressure readings depending on arm position,” said Kamath, a cardiologist at UCLA Health.

It's been quite a year for NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns. This week it became official that Towns, the Minnesota Timberwolves 7-foot center/forward, will be playing for the New York Knicks. And in May, KAT — as he’s known — was named the 2023-24 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion “for his voting rights advocacy as well as his work across the justice and education systems,” the NBA said. Towns’ advocacy helped pass legislation ensuring formerly incarcerated people in Minnesota could exercise their right to vote. But it has all come full circle since he has represented the Dominican Republic in several international basketball championships, including the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

And they’ve kept up a drumbeat of dubious claims about voting, along with the lie that the election was stolen in 2020. Prosecutors allege that the Trump campaign used similarly aggressive tactics in Philadelphia to force confrontation with election officials, which Trump and his allies used to claim his supporters were denied access to observe the count. Election officials have been operating in an increasingly hostile environment as GOP skepticism of election administration has climbed. Among them: shifting numbers of noncitizens Trump allies claimed had voted in the 2020 election. In Georgia, state courts are reviewing new rules from the State Election Board that Democrats say give county election officials broad authority to delay certification of the results in search of purported election irregularities.
