CNN —North Korea accused South Korea of flying propaganda-filled drones over Pyongyang and threatened “retaliation,” state media reported Friday. South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff did not confirm or deny the accusations but urged North Korea to “not to act rashly” and said “all responsibility for the recent series of developments lies with North Korea,” referring to trash-laden balloons Pyongyang has been continuously sending to the South. Shaw revealed on Thursday it had amassed a roughly $1 billion stake in industrial gas giant Air Products and Chemicals, the second activist stake at the $71 billion company. Propagandists seeking to influence elections around the globe have tried to use ChatGPT in their operations, according to a report released Wednesday by the technology’s creator, OpenAI. OpenAI said in its report that this year it has stopped people who tried to use ChatGPT to generate content about elections in the U.S., Rwanda, India, and the European Union. They also used ChatGPT to create social media posts in support of those sites, according to the report. They were part of a larger campaign that repeatedly spammed pro-party posts on X, a documented propaganda campaign that posted messages — often the same few messages — more than 650,000 times. According to OpenAI’s report, they also tried to get ChatGPT to tell them the default login credentials for other companies that provide industrial control systems software.

Autonomous taxis are winning over women in cities like San Francisco by offering an answer to a long-standing concern about ride-hailing apps: misbehavior by human drivers, especially men. Now, those driver safety concerns are helping to fuel the popularity of autonomous taxis — especially for women traveling alone or at night. About three-quarters of Lyft and Uber drivers are men, according to industry and academic surveys. Lyft said in a statement to NBC News that it continues to try to improve safety, including with driver background checks, driver ratings, driver education and an emergency phone line for passengers. In 2023, Lyft started a feature, Women+ Connect, that allows women or nonbinary drivers to opt in to prefer riders who are women or nonbinary, and vice versa.

President Joe Biden has postponed his overseas trip this week due to Hurricane Milton, according to two sources familiar with the planning. Biden was scheduled to depart for Berlin on Thursday and then travel to Angola in Southern Africa, returning to the U.S. on Oct. 15. "Given the projected trajectory and strength of Hurricane Milton, President Biden is postponing his upcoming trip to Germany and Angola in order to oversee preparations for and the response to Hurricane Milton, in addition to the ongoing response to the impacts of Hurricane Helene across the Southeast," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement. Residents there are still reeling from the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene last month. Criswell will be in Florida providing guidance and coordinating disaster response to Milton, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Monday.

Influencer-marketing startup Dreamwell AI raised $2.3 million in a pre-seed round led by Tim Draper. The company uses AI to automate marketing tasks like influencer prospecting and outreach. A new tech startup called Dreamwell AI has its sights set on using AI to make influencer marketing run more efficiently. "First and foremost, we try to understand what's the value of this creator," Khazaal said. Startups and Big Tech alike are adding AI tools to help creators automate tasks like video editing, dubbing, and even coming up with ideas.
