For companies like Target and Disney, it is unclear if boycotts will hit sales. The company said it has not changed any policy on decorations and is encouraging stores to celebrate Pride Month. Despite the mounting headlines and sustained criticism of Bud Light, corporate boycotts are "overstated," and those offended by campaigns tied to Pride Month are in the "minority," Ellis said. Bud Light appears to be an outlierIn April, the brewer ran a March Madness promotion with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney, who shared a customized Bud Light can on Instagram. Insider convened a panel of leaders from Diageo, Mastercard, and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners at Cannes Lions. The speakers said it's important to understand your brand's context in order to decide what purpose initiatives it should align with. Marketing leaders were urged not to let external pressures — like those recently faced by Bud Light and Target — keep them from taking risks and aligning with purpose. Goodby spoke about how important it is to understand the brand "context" when creating these kinds of campaigns. "Every brand has a context ... and the context of your brand has to be taken into account," he said.

Voicemod has created 20 "AI humans," digital personas that allow gamers to speak in voices other than their own. An artificial intelligence firm in Spain has unveiled a number of "AI humans" that allow people to modify their voices in video games — in real time. The voices are trained on voices from professional human voice actors. While many of today's AI algorithms allow people to submit text and receive something AI generated back, the feat of ensuring this is done in real time is much harder. The company is close to finishing a "watermarking" solution that can identify whether voices have been generated using modification systems.

The movie is projected to debut with a modest $31 million to $41 million this weekend in the U.S., according to the Box Office Pro website. That is well shy of the recent $120.5 million haul for Sony’s critically acclaimed animated hit "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." Pixar is looking to rebound from the box office disappointment of 2022 release "Lightyear," the origin story of "Toy Story" hero Buzz Lightyear. "Judging Pixar on the recent past, history would not be kind," said SVB MoffettNathanson media analyst Michael Nathanson. But the move dealt a blow to creatives who had hoped their films would be seen on the big screen, according to one Pixar director who spoke on condition of anonymity.

CNN —Attending the 2023 Tony Awards in New York Sunday night, Lupita Nyong’o arrived in timeless formalwear: a sharp black velvet dinner jacket and flared trousers. Nyong’o was wearing a custom breastplate cast and molded on her body by Misha Japanwala, a Pakistani artist and designer whose subversive sculptures are already increasingly attracting an impressive celebrity clientele. (An exhibition of Japanwala’s work is also currently on display at the Hannah Traore art gallery in New York.) Misha Japanwala's work "asks viewers to see the body exactly as it is," the artist writes on her website. Japanwala’s work, however, presents a very different picture.
