India has struggled for years to tackle high rates of violence against women, with a number of high-profile rape cases drawing international attention to the issue. According to India’s National Crime Records Bureau, a total of 31,516 rape cases were recorded in 2022, an average of 86 cases per day. Despite these changes, rape cases remain prevalent in the country – with victims and advocates saying the government is still not doing enough to protect women and punish attackers.

This is Street Wars, a weekly series on the battle for space on New York’s streets and sidewalks. Commuting by bus in New York City can be an exercise in frustration. And some bus stops are significantly sweatier than others. A recent study by Transportation Alternatives, a transit advocacy group, found that the absence of bus shelters or shade trees leads to higher temperatures on certain routes and at certain stops. While New York is home to more than 15,000 bus stops, only one in five have bus shelters and just one in three are near tree shade, according to the report.

In conversations with nearly a dozen Democratic lawmakers and candidates running in competitive races across the country, a common theme emerged. Tim Walz, Democrats have felt a tangible bump of energy in their districts, through spikes in volunteers, donations and event turnout. Rep. This June and July, nights in Las Vegas stayed above 79 degrees for all but seven days. And hot nights are something more people are experiencing: No American major metro area has grown as much as Las Vegas has over the last three decades. Even after the sun set in Las Vegas in June and July, temperatures routinely remained in the 80s and 90s. Populations have doubled or more over a generation, with the number of abnormally hot nights rising at similar rates. On Monday, July 22, Delta canceled more than 1,250 flights — making up nearly 70% of all domestic cancellations, the lawsuit said. In response, Delta offered Plaintiff a $100 voucher to use towards a future flight with Delta,” the lawsuit said. The Olympic sendoff friendlies seemed to clue at an early theory: park the bus, play defense-first soccer and frustrate the United States until you find a chance to try an attack. Although having Coffey back from suspension helped toward that end, the United States was still thin in central areas. Berger and Naeher were both instrumental in keeping the score 0-0 throughout regulation, Berger moreso given the United States’ stronger attacking presence. Many American parents are used to utilizing a variety of parenting strategies and baby items in their everyday lives. The primary reason for this has to do with finances and parental leave. Day care or a private nanny can be very pricey, so a nanny share can help cut down on costs for some families. In Germany, both group day care and home day care providers are subsidized by the state; in some areas of Germany, day care is free of charge. But in Germany, due to lengthier parental leave, most kids start day care around age 1.

Three years ago, JPMorgan Chase became the first bank with a branch in all 48 contiguous states. "We're still at very low single-digit branch share, and we know that in order for us to really optimize our investment in these communities, we need to be at a higher branch share," Roberts said in an interview with CNBC. Wells Fargo and Bank of America closed the highest net number of branches, while JPMorgan was the most active net opener. CNN —Russian-American journalist Alsu Kurmasheva said she’s “finally being treated as a human being” following her release from Russian detention in a historic prisoner exchange between Washington and the Kremlin last week. “I’ve been waking up from that nightmare,” Kurmasheva told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead” in her first television interview since her release. This is Street Wars, a weekly series on the battle for space on New York’s streets and sidewalks. It is the first street to greet many travelers as they arrive at Pennsylvania Station or the Port Authority Bus Terminal. It is the backdrop to any night spent at a Broadway show or Madison Square Garden, or just out on the town. At the best of times, it is the Champs-Élysées of hot dog carts: a grand thoroughfare of vendors, tourists and commuters whose bustle brings the city to life. Pedestrians crowd the sidewalk and overflow into an ad hoc expansion of it, created in 2016 when the city began to cordon off a lane of traffic and paint it gray.

Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich chose to advocate for dissidents languishing in Russian prisons, in his first public comments on U.S. soil after he was freed as part of a prisoner exchange. “I just spent a month in prison in Yekaterinburg where basically everyone I was sat with is a political prisoner,” he added. Seven Russian citizens, including four who worked with the late opposition figure, Alexey Navalny, were among the the 24 people freed in Thursday’s major multinational prisoner exchange. On the dissidents he’d met behind bars Gershkovich said no one knew them publicly, but they had various political beliefs. President Joe Biden called the deal a “feat of diplomacy and friendship.” It was cut among seven nations, involving 24 people, including five Germans and seven Russian citizens held in Russia, and eight Russians imprisoned in the U.S., Germany, Slovenia, Norway and Poland.

Such benefits used to be out of reach for most Olympics ticket holders. After all, the last time a guy named Shapiro had been elected governor of Pennsylvania, he had years earlier anglicized his name to Shapp. “I’m not aware of how his position on Israel differs from the other potential vice presidents,” Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz, who is both Jewish and a proud progressive, told CNN. Of the VP’s choices, Shapiro is the one who stands out as the most divisive and could put a stop in everyone being on the same page,” said one Jewish Democratic operative. But I will say his attacks, this might surprise you, don’t bother me personally,” Shapiro said at the time. But calling what’s coming at Shapiro “pure antisemitism,” Rep.
