Two authors filed a lawsuit against OpenAI last week alleging that their copyrighted books were used to train the company's artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT, without their consent. They allege the summaries are "only possible" if ChatGPT was trained on their books, which would be a violation of copyright law. OpenAI doesn't reveal what precise data was used for training ChatGPT, but the company said it generally crawled the web, including the use of archived books and Wikipedia. The complaint references exhibits of the summaries that ChatGPT generated, and it notes that the chatbot gets some things wrong. "At no point did ChatGPT reproduce any of the copyright management information Plaintiffs included with their published works," the complaint said.

Twitter competitor Bluesky said it experienced "record-high traffic" Saturday after Elon Musk, Twitter's executive chairman and CTO, said the site will temporarily limit the number of posts users can read per day. Musk wrote in a tweet that due to "extreme levels of data scraping" and "system manipulation," verified accounts, unverified accounts and new unverified accounts will be subject to limits on the social media site. Musk changed the limits several times on Saturday, at one point announcing that verified accounts could view 10,000 posts a day, while unverified accounts could view 1,000 and new unverified accounts could view 500. As a result, people have been turning to Bluesky, an emerging text-based social media site backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. The decentralized messaging app Mastodon attracted significant interest in November, and social media giant Meta previously confirmed to CNBC that it was "exploring a standalone decentralized social network for sharing text updates."

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said much remains unknown about the chaos that unfolded in Russia on Saturday, but that the internal clash exposed "cracks" in the nation that "weren't there before." Prigozhin has played a central role in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, so his departure could ultimately change the course of the war. And though his rebellion was short-lived, it marked the most serious challenge to Putin's regime in decades. "This is just an added chapter to a very, very bad book that Putin has written for Russia," Blinken told CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday. Blinken said Prigozhin has been responsible for "horrible brutality" in Ukraine, and that in many ways, Prigozhin is Putin's direct creation.
