Based in upstate New York, GlobalFoundries isn't a household name because it's manufacturing semiconductors that are designed and sold by other companies. "Look at every electronic device in your house, and I would bet you money that every one of those devices has at least one GlobalFoundries chip in it," Thomas Caulfield, GlobalFoundries CEO, told CNBC. GlobalFoundries chips are inside everything from smartphones and cars to smart speakers and Bluetooth-enabled dishwashers. Although GlobalFoundries' chips are considered legacy nodes, the process and resources needed are still incredibly complex. Semiconductor sales to Russia from China and Hong Kong more than doubled in 2022 as Western sanctions took hold. Meantime, construction equipment has played an "underappreciated" but significant role in China's contribution to Russia's war efforts, having helped bolster its defenses against Ukraine's counteroffensive, Joseph Webster, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, said. An electrical power pylon with high-voltage power lines is seen next to wind turbines near Weselitz, Germany November 18, 2022. Moving away from fossil fuels will require laying thousands of new and stronger power lines carrying electricity from source to end users. Putting the additional earnings on Prysmian’s expected EBITDA multiple for 2026 of 8 times would generate an additional enterprise value of 2 billion euros, nearly 20% above today’s 11.6 billion euros. One potential snag is that cable makers’ annual capacity for high-voltage cables is currently only 6 billion euros per year. The volume of high-voltage cable orders has risen to more than 10 billion euros last year from around 3 billion euros in 2019, according to industry and analyst estimates.

Andrey Rudakov | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesOil prices surged to their highest level in over a year during Asian trading hours, after crude stocks at a key storage hub fell to their lowest since July last year. The U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures touched $95.03 per barrel during Asia trading hours, marking the highest since August 2022. He forecasts that oil prices will continue to remain at "high level" for the rest of the year, with an upside risk if global oil cartel OPEC+ continues to keep supplies tight. In September, OPEC+ kingpin Saudi Arabia extended its 1 million barrel per day voluntary crude oil production cut until the end of the year. The spike in oil prices is weighing on airline stocks, and there is still time to for traders to take advantage of that relationship through options trades, according to Barclays. Such underperformance has been worse only 10% of the time in the past 25yrs," the Barclays note said on Tuesday. The options market does not appear to have priced in these risks, Pascale said, so Barclays recommended two short-term trades. Public schools with no air conditioning or whose cooling systems are inoperable due to power outages blamed on a hurricane-battered electric grid are seeking relief, but it’s unlikely they’ll find it soon. Pedro Pierluisi quietly vetoed a bill that called for air conditioning systems for public schools. But air conditioning remains rare at public schools, which depend on fans and trade winds that blow through windows with metal shutters. It's unknown how many public schools lack air conditioning or have air conditioners that don't work because of electrical problems. More than 50% of public schools also have reported a heat-related emergency.

Global stocks notched their second-worst month of the year in August, with the MSCI broad aggregate of world indexes dropping 2.96%, according to LSEG data. This has carried into a tepid start to September trade, but Madison Faller, global investment strategist at JPMorgan Private Bank, said in a research note on Friday that 2023 can still finish strong. "While there are still things we don't know, the read from the key players — central banks, Wall Street, Main Street and the C-suite — suggests that the outlook feels brighter today than it did a year ago," Faller said. "With less worry about the near term, more firms are starting to focus on how they can continue growing in the long term. Technology stocks, particularly those with a heavy focus on AI, have driven a huge portion of the market's gains so far this year.

Is Travel Insurance Worth It?

Trip cancellation and interruption coverage is the most common form of travel insurance, making up nearly 90% of travel protection plans sold. Travel medical: When you travel to another country, typical health insurance plans — including Medicare — don’t cover you. Like all forms of insurance, travel insurance policies don’t cover every event that can impact your vacation. “When you travel using airline miles and hotel points, most credit card travel insurance policies won’t cover the trips,” says Huffman. “If you do not get travel insurance, you are rolling the dice,” says Hines, who adds she always recommends travel insurance to her clients.

Global cooperation on green hydrogen manufacturing and supply is expected to be discussed by G-20 leaders at this week's summit in New Delhi. WHAT IS GREEN HYDROGEN? Boshell said just replacing this so-called gray hydrogen — hydrogen produced from fossil fuels — would ensure a long-term market for green hydrogen. And then we can add additional demand and applications of green hydrogen as a fuel for industries, shipping and aviation,” he said.
