PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A former nurse convicted of sexually abusing women in custody at an Oregon prison has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. A federal jury in July convicted Klein on 17 counts related to sexual assault and four counts of lying under oath involving nine women. Klein resigned as Oregon State Police was investigating the assault allegations. Prosecutors said Klein abused his position and abused women, violating the public's trust, while doing everything he could to avoid getting caught. Numerous women since 2019 have sued the state Department of Corrections and Klein alleging sexual abuse.

(AP) — Two more people have been charged in connection with a shooting investigation in Holyoke, Massachusetts, during which a pregnant woman on a bus was hit by gunfire and delivered a baby that later died. Attorney information was not immediately available for him, according to the clerk's office of the Holyoke District Court. Rosado-Rosario and Galarza are accused of helping Kermith Alvarez, 28, of Holyoke, who was named as a suspect last week and has not been found. Johnluis Sanchez, 30, and Alejandro Ramos, 22, both of Holyoke, were arraigned last week on murder charges. Police responding to the shooting said it appeared three male suspects were involved in an altercation before gunshots were fired.

MONTERREY, Mexico (Reuters) - The death toll caused by the collapse of a church roof during a Sunday Mass in northern Mexico has risen to 10, and another 60 people were injured, officials said on Monday, as local authorities began wrapping up search and rescue efforts. Five women, two men and three children were among those killed at the church in the Gulf Coast city of Ciudad Madero in Tamaulipas state, state governor Americo Villarreal said. Footage posted on social media showed the moment the church roof caved in, puffs of gray smoke billowing into the air, followed by the toppling of yellow brick outer walls. Mexican media reported that several children were baptized during the Sunday Mass at the church. Bishop Jose Armando Alvarez from the Roman Catholic Diocese of nearby Tampico said the church roof crumbled as worshippers were receiving communion and asked others to pray for survivors.
