Currently, the SpaceX website says that a "service date is unknown at this time," for Starlink in Taiwan for general customers. Musk and representatives for X, SpaceX and Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The conversations between Musk and Putin, who once ran the KGB, reportedly occurred as Musk was in the midst of a leveraged buyout and takeover of Twitter. He continued to promote the idea, via X (formerly Twitter) that some Ukraine citizens would prefer to join Russia.

The probe concerns Airbnb's (ABNB.O) alleged failure to withold 21% of landlords' rental income and pay it to Italian tax authorities, as required by a 2017 law, prosecutors in the northern Italian city said in a statement. Airbnb's Italian press office did not immediately reply to a request for comment. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's administration is meanwhile planning a crackdown on tax cheating on short-term rentals, and wants to raise taxes from 21% to 26% for owners of multiple short-term rental properties.

☆ EU court rules Airbnb must provide rental info to tax authorities

BRUSSELS, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Short-term accommodation services company Airbnb (ABNB.O) must provide information in rental contracts to tax authorities and withhold tax under a national regime, the European Union's top court ruled on Thursday. The Italian court subsequently sought guidance from the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). "EU law does not preclude the requirement to collect information or to withhold tax under a national tax regime," the EU court said in a statement. But an Airbnb spokesperson said the company was already supporting the correct payment of host income tax by implementing the EU's agreed common tax reporting framework. "We will continue to make progress on the EU's bloc-wide approach to income tax reporting while we await the final decision of the Italian court," the Airbnb spokesperson said.

A lawsuit was filed against Twitter on Thursday alleging the social media company now headed by Elon Musk violated federal and state law that requires 60 days' notice of mass layoffs, according to a court document. But Twitter told employees it will continue to provide pay and benefits, even though they are no longer working. The suit seeks a court to declare that Twitter is violating the WARN Act and to prevent it from doing so. It also seeks to prevent Twitter from trying to obtain releases from workers without informing them of their rights and the lawsuit, according to the document. A Twitter employee told NBC News that Thursday’s email was the first communication staff members had received from the company since the acquisition Oct. 27.
