Chris Larsen, the billionaire founder of blockchain payments company Ripple who is among the execs to endorse Harris, told Business Insider he wants her to make different appointments if she wins. "The way that they have already been interacting with business leaders is a compelling indication of where things could go in the future," Levie told Business Insider. Kovacic previously told Business Insider that Harris' relationship to economic progressives like Warren remains unclear. "It's not as though they think she will simply be an agent of Big Tech," he previously told Business Insider. "In the next four years, we'll be dealing with major policy subjects that relate to the next many decades of innovation," he told Business Insider.

Until the very idea of saying "yes" to one more thing left me feeling emotionally depleted, on edge, and lost. I was tackling it all, saying "yes" to all the things, when on the inside, my body was screaming for me to stop. The irony of it all was that by saying yes to everything, I wasn't helping anyone. How many times in a day do you catch yourself saying "yes" to things you don't even want to? We say "yes" to another date with a guy we're not even into, because we don't want to be mean.

David Gergen: Biden just rewrote the presidential racePresident Joe Biden not only delivered perhaps the best speech of his life last night; he may have also changed the race itself. Roxanne Jones: Biden finally sounds like he’s ready to fightPresident Joe Biden finally has my attention. At the end of his speech, Biden reminded voters that he “grew up among working people” in Scranton. In his State of the Union speech, Biden had to answer the mail on all of these.

Bill Murphy, an 80-year-old retired veterinarian in suburban Phoenix, sometimes blanks on names he could once summon with ease, so he has empathy for 81-year-old President Biden. But he winced when he watched Mr. Biden defend his mental sharpness at a news conference, only to mix up the presidents of Egypt and Mexico. Mr. Murphy, a Republican, believes Mr. Biden is not up to another term. “I look at him as a peer,” said Ms. Meyer, who plans to vote for Mr. Biden. The special counsel report cleared him of criminal charges in his handling of classified documents but described him as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

The Russian pop star winced as the black kitten he was cuddling in Russian-occupied Ukraine licked the crook of his neck for about the 15th time. Several weeks earlier, the musician, Dima Bilan, had been in Moscow, mingling in a see-through shirt with celebrities at an “almost naked” theme party that caused an uproar in Russia and threatened to end his career. He petted dogs and stroked kittens at animal shelters outside Donetsk. He handed out plush toys to convalescing children at a medical trauma center. He delivered new air-conditioning units to a facility in need.

South Africa asked the court to order Israel to halt its blistering air and ground offensive in an interim step. Netanyahu made clear that Israel would ignore orders to halt the fighting, potentially deepening its isolation. Israel argues that ending the war means victory for Hamas, the Islamic militant group that has ruled Gaza since 2007 and is bent on Israel's destruction. In more fallout from the war, the world court this week heard arguments on South Africa's complaint against Israel. In Gaza, where Hamas has put up stiff resistance to Israel's blistering air and ground campaign, the war continued unabated.

Opinion | What a Petty Pair DeSantis and Newsom Made
  + stars: | 2023-12-01 | by ( Frank Bruni | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
It’s remarkable how fixated Ron DeSantis and Gavin Newsom have been on each other. These two opposite-party governors from opposite coasts of the country have been sparring — repeatedly, haughtily, naughtily — for more than two years. It was there at the start of the debate, when DeSantis, in the first minute of his remarks, managed to mention Newsom’s infamously hypocritical pandemic dinner at the French Laundry. It was there in the middle, when DeSantis brought up the French Laundry again. He noted that he and DeSantis had something “in common,” alluding to the fact that he himself is not making a White House bid.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow left Thursday night's game at Baltimore with a right wrist injury and the team said he would not return. Burrow was 11 of 17 for 101 yards and a touchdown when he left the game. Burrow was back on the sideline as halftime ended but did not return to the game when Cincinnati started the third quarter with the ball. Burrow dealt with a calf injury earlier this season, but he hasn't missed a game this year. He's missed only one game since the start of the 2021 season while leading Cincinnati to back-to-back AFC title games and a Super Bowl appearance.

Born in Greece and raised in South Africa, she presents the network’s Connecting Africa and Marketplace Middle East feature shows. Either abandoned by their owners or surrendered to gangs, these “hijacked” buildings typically house migrants or poverty-stricken locals in downtown Johannesburg. The first time I visited one of these buildings I was based in South Africa as a correspondent, and what I found was shocking. “I can take you to buildings 10 times worse than this,” the mayor told me. Some of the gangs were not even from South Africa, we were told.

Opinion: Russia’s uneasy neighbors

“All of Russia’s neighbors are under threat,” he said, “if Ukraine does not prevail.” He will find few who disagree among those neighbors. It’s why Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, one of the most eloquent proponents of the need to support Ukraine, says Ukraine is Estonia’s own front line. Here, the exterior of Russia’s embassy has become a showcase for the contempt Estonians feel for their former master. As in Estonia, Russia’s 21st century assault on Ukraine brought echoes of Russia’s 20th century subjugation of Latvia. Genuine normalcy, a permanent sense of safety, Russia’s neighbors have discovered, will have to wait until peace returns to a secure Ukraine.

LONDON, July 9 (Reuters) - Jessica Pegula enjoyed one of those scarcely believable days straight out of fantasy land as her racket oozed winners left, right and centre in a 6-1 6-3 fourth-round destruction of luckless Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko at Wimbledon on Sunday. Pegula took full advantage of her opponent's woes as she walloped thunderous winners from the baseline to streak into a 5-0 lead in 18 blinding minutes. Tsurenko was lucky not to be completely wiped out from the opening set as the American fourth seed missed a set point in the sixth game. That respite, however, was brief as Pegula went on another three-game winning spree to take a 6-1 2-0 lead. I am so glad to make the final eight and I hope I get my name on a wall, or something."

The cult of Emily Oster

Emily Oster is sitting in the back of a car, checking her Garmin watch as we lurch through rush-hour traffic toward the Holland Tunnel. A self-described expert in data, Oster uses her economics training to dig into studies on things like circumcision and screen time and translate them for popular consumption. There doesn't seem to be much of a gap between the way Oster presents herself in her books and newsletters and the way she conducts her life. Unsurprisingly, economics informs every aspect of the way Oster sees the world. When Oster was a toddler, her mother told a Yale colleague that Oster often talked to herself before falling asleep.

CNN —Rickie Fowler led the US Open by two shots heading into the last hole of his third round. Clark continued to dazzle on his first ever US Open weekend, rebounding superbly after back-to-back bogeys at the 11th and 12th holes threatened to send him sliding. “I felt like I handled all of it really well,” Clark said. Australia will be eager to tighten their grip on the match as they lead India by 196 runs, with Usman Khawaja batting on 13 along with Marnus Labuschagne on eight. While Thakur lived dangerously, Rahane went about rescuing India's hopes with his mix of delectable shot selection in the 109-run partnership for the seventh wicket. While he fell 11 runs short of scoring a century in the second over after lunch, the 35-year-old crossed 5000 test runs during his 129-ball knock which included 11 fours and a six. Following Rahane's departure, Thakur steered India past the follow-on target before bringing up his 50 with a sumptuous four. Blinking rapidly, he hurriedly grabbed his bat to make his way to the crease and made sure Australia reached tea without losing any further wickets.

Trapped by War, Saved by 2 Students With a Taxi

In the first days of Sudan’s war, the two university students felt helpless. On the fifth day, April 19, the phone rang: Someone needed a taxi. A senior United Nations official, a woman in her 40s, was trapped inside her home in an upscale neighborhood, the caller explained. The students, Hassan Tibwa and Sami al-Gada, in their final year of mechanical engineering, had a side gig driving a taxi. Mr. Tibwa phoned the woman.

But despite Trump’s suggestion the event was “uneventful,” the fallout over his dinner with Fuentes appears to have thrown Trump’s campaign into damage control mode. In addition to Giorno and Fuentes, Ye also brought along another man who was an associate, according to the sources. Fuentes attended that event and, after Trump said he denounced white supremacy at the rally, Fuentes denounced him for that. In his video debrief, Ye said that “Trump is really impressed with Nick Fuentes. “I’m like hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, Trump.
One former Majorel advisor estimated that 1,400 content moderators work just on the firm's TikTok contract across Morocco. While targets and goals varied between teams, six moderators told Insider that their goals were difficult to meet. A spokesperson for Majorel told Insider these targets were guidance and not individual targets. While Majorel told Insider that moderators have access to harm-mitigation tools, such as grayscale features, all of the moderators Insider spoke with said they didn't have access to any such feature. Five other Majorel moderators also said the company's wellness counselors weren't enough to help them with the pressures of the role.
