Toby Melville | ReutersFARNBOROUGH, England — Massive airplane orders, hundreds deep in recent years, were absent from this year's biggest air show. One standout was Air Korea's order for up to 50 Boeing wide-body planes, including the 777X, which Boeing is working toward getting certified by regulators. As both manufacturers grapple with production strains, Air Korea CEO Walter Cho quipped during the Boeing order signing: "Whichever comes first will become our flagship, whoever's on time." Boeing has an overall backlog of close to 5,500 planes, while Airbus has more than 8,000 on order. Many airlines from United Airlines to Air India have also stocked up on new jet orders as travel rebounded in the pandemic.

At Amazon, employees are taught that good leaders "are right, a lot." That doesn't mean your boss knows more than you do, or that their first ideas are always the best. Ironically, Jassy sees leaders get that concept "wrong" with some frequency, he said. An idea that comes from your boss isn't necessarily the best idea possible, he noted. "We're trying to get to the best possible answer for customers, whoever's idea it is," said Jassy.

A Boeing 777X airplane takes off during its first test flight from the company's plant in Everett, Washington, January 25, 2020. FARNBOROUGH, England — Boeing won orders for at least 40 wide-body jetliners from Korean Air, including the yet-to-be-certified 777X jetliner, in a vote of confidence for the struggling manufacturer. The order, announced at the Farnborough Airshow outside of London, includes 20 777X planes, the largest in Boeing's commercial jet lineup, and 20 787-10 Dreamliner planes, both long-range jets. Korean Air CEO Walter Cho said he expected to start receiving the planes later this decade. "If I wasn't assured, I would not have ordered it," Cho said at a news conference of Korean Air's order.

U.S. officials and defense experts agreed that it's highly likely that IS was responsible for the attack. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Saturday that "what happened yesterday in Moscow is obviously just Putin and the other scum trying to blame it on someone else." In the end, the only man who could unify House Republicans behind him was a relatively little-known and mild-mannered evangelical Christian from Louisiana. While Gaetz maintains otherwise, his angry GOP colleagues have plenty of evidence to make their case that it was an attention ploy. Rep. The secret to building a successful career is becoming a better problem solver, says former President Barack Obama. No matter what disruptions shake up the economy — whether it's the pandemic, AI or climate change— being a resourceful, adaptable employee will make you indispensable, Obama told LinkedIn News' "This Is Working" podcast on June 1. "The most important advice I give to young people is … just learn how to get stuff done," Obama explained. "Gravitate toward work that solves a problem," the Microsoft founder told students at Northern Arizona University's commencement ceremony last month. "You're killing it … because people will notice, that's somebody who can get something done."

Wallabies will back whoever Jones picks as skipper - Slipper

SYDNEY, May 3 (Reuters) - James Slipper, Australia's incumbent test skipper, says the Wallabies will back whoever coach Eddie Jones chooses as captain for the Rugby Championship and World Cup. Hooper has since returned to the game and the Wallabies squad but Jones has yet to announce who will lead the side when the test season starts in July, only suggesting that he might pick more than one. "Eddie made it clear he's just going to pick the right man for the job so whoever that is, mate, we'll just bide behind," Slipper told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday. Jones has not always followed the expected path with his captains, most notably when he named New Zealand-born hooker Dylan Hartley as England skipper in 2016. "I feel I have got a couple of good years left in me, so we'll see what happens."
As of this year, 18 states guarantee some form of personal finance education before students graduate, according to Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF), a nonprofit that provides educational resources and advocates for financial literacy in schools. Personal finance is a huge umbrella. Setting the standardsWhen it comes to mandating personal finance education, it's not as simple as legislators or school boards agreeing that there need to be courses available. The National Council for Economic Education identifies six critical topic areas in their personal finance standards: Earning incomeSpendingSavingInvestingManaging creditManaging risk Developing the local standards can come down to "whoever's in the room," according to Chris Cannon, chief program officer at the Georgia Council on Economic Education, who worked on Georgia's personal finance education standards. NGPF also works on the policy side to help ensure when states are mandating personal finance education, they're doing so effectively.
The future of AI could "free humanity" from work, according to OpenAI investor Vinod Khosla. "This large transformation is the opportunity to free humanity from the need to work. People will work when they want to work on what they want to work on," Khosla told Semafor. Back in 2014, Khosla told Semafor, he started thinking about a future with AI, even predicting that eventually most media would be created by AI in the future and that AI will disrupt teaching. AI jobs in tech, mathematics, accounting, and communication fields will be especially at risk, the researchers found.
Some Republicans blamed "woke" investment strategies for Silicon Valley Bank's downfall. Economists and banking experts so far have chalked up Silicon Valley Bank's failure to much more apolitical circumstances. Silicon Valley Bank then had to sell its assets at a loss to fork over cash it didn't have, an increasingly untenable chain reaction that ended only when regulators shut the institution down. Regulators closed the Silicon Valley Bank on Friday, a stunning break to a period of relative banking stability in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. "I don't know if making money's now woke," Baker said.

TikTok's secret sauce is its ability to keep users on the platform, and without sacrificing its core, Instagram won't be able to compete. That's because on TikTok, every video a creator makes has to outperform every other TikTok video. Victim of its own successUnlike TikTok, Instagram has long been seen as a secure place on which to build a digital following. A year ago, when the researcher Valdovinos Kaye was interviewing TikTok creators for his book, he found that they desperately sought to transport their audiences over to Instagram. Rather than copying TikTok's success, Instagram might need to focus on what separates it from the pack.

Dear Work It Out, How do I handle when one of my friends constantly complains about their work but doesn't do anything to change their situation? Tired of Complaints * Dear ToC, As long as work and dealing with other people are part of our lives, complaining about work — and complaining about other people complaining about work — will be too. They get a listener who will provide them with the type of reaction they're looking for, and you get to devote only as much brain-space to the issue as it requires. Taking the time to ask that question may help whoever's complaining figure out what they're really looking for. But that doesn't mean you can't provide some assistance in helping your friend figure out what the solutions might be.
Here are seven alternatives to stand out at work as an introvert, according to behavioral experts. In a world that rewards boisterous extroversion, being an introvert at work can feel like a disadvantage. "We see this when you look at leadership statistics," said Susan Cain, the author of popular introvert bible "Quiet." "It's not so much about promoting yourself as it is about sharing expertise, which is a mindset that's much more comfortable for many introverts," Cain said. Cain said: "For many introverts speaking up takes a toll, so it's something that you want to do more strategically.
