Yet, there are common overlapping themes among Europe’s populists that are also present in Trump’s playbook. “As we know, any kind of peace agreement on Putin’s terms would be terrible for Ukraine and terrible for European security,” Van Rij stresses. “Trump’s reelection purely underscores all of that.”‘Warm air of historical righteousness’Overall, Van Rij sees “a lot of convergence in thinking” between Trump and some of Europe’s populist parties. Van Rij says France would therefore be disproportionately hard-hit by Trump’s America First trade policy. “China is seen as arch enemy number one by some in the Republican party, and Trump shares that view,” Van Rij says.

“I don’t get melodies and ideas in my head that have to do with the issues of our economic climate,” Swift added. Swift, now 34, has since written a number of songs that reflect her feelings on politics and societal causes that are important to her. Rick Diamond/Getty Images/FileThat same year, Swift endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket, an endorsement punctuated by the singer expressing regret in “Miss Americana” for not speaking up about political causes sooner. Swift initially captivated her fans with her music, creating a loyal Swiftie base that seems to hang on her every word. Regardless of whether she chooses to directly sing about politics or social causes, she now seems to know all too well how powerful her music can be.

As leading tech investors continue to vocally take sides ahead of the 2024 presidential election, legendary venture capitalist Michael Moritz is making his preference clear. In a Financial Times opinion piece published Monday, Moritz wrote that those in the industry who are supporting Donald Trump "are making a big mistake." Moritz was referring to Trump's conviction, earlier this year, on 34 felony counts in New York State court. Other Trump backers include venture capitalists David Sacks and Joe Lonsdale as well as Doug Leone, Moritz's longtime partner at Sequoia. Moritz wrote in his op-ed that Trump's tech financiers and supporters were "making the same mistake as all powerful people who back authoritarians."

Trump's TikTok rollout came as his own social media company, Trump Media, took a financial tumble in the wake of the historic verdict that convicted the former president on 34 felony counts in his Manhattan hush money trial. Trump launched Truth Social in early 2022 as an alternative, "non-woke" social media platform after he was banned from sites like Twitter and Facebook following the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. Since then, Trump Media has gone public and the former president now holds a 65% stake in the company. Trump is several months later than his Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden, whose reelection campaign launched on TikTok in February. "We will get President Trump's winning message to every voter possible.

Support for abortion rights drove women to the polls during the 2022 midterm elections, delivering Democrats unexpected success. Still, Democrats believe abortion will be a key motivator for base voters and help expand their coalition. Biden aides and allies point to recent elections that have overwhelmingly shown that, when voters can choose, they have chosen to safeguard abortion rights. According to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll, among Democrats, nearly nine in 10 say abortion should generally be legal. But it also underscores a pervasive fear among Republican candidates and voters alike that vocalizing their desire to further restrict abortion rights in 2024 might be politically dangerous.

They represent the moral and philosophical foundations for the concrete constitutional rules of culture war that directly apply on campus. One of the most powerful and compelling arguments for free speech in American history was born out of mob suppression. In 1860, Frederick Douglass wrote his “Plea for Free Speech in Boston” after a violent mob shut down an antislavery event. Every college and university — public or private — that receives federal funds has an affirmative duty to protect students’ civil rights. In the recent past, schools have sometimes been too enthusiastic about stopping harassment, defining the term so broadly that university anti-harassment policies actually violate students’ free speech rights.

Video taken by divers showed a false killer whale twirling right in front of them in Costa Rica. False killer whale Morten Falch SortlandThe sharing of prey is common for false killer whales, which are long-lived creatures with strong social bonds, Baird said. A lone false killer whale, far from its typical range, would catch fish and offer them to people on boats. As for the video of the false killer whale twirling before the divers, he said it's likely on that same scale of behavior.

The ability to make video calls to other parrots, then, may give birds the chance to access the socialization and species identity they have in the wild, Cunha said. Parrot caregivers learned, for instance, to recognize signs of stress during the video calls and offer encouragement to help reduce any fear associated with the new experience. The researchers released three parrots from the study in its early stages, as these birds didn't seem to like the calls at all. But most of the parrots apparently enjoyed the experience and chose to make plenty of calls to other birds. The study authors acknowledge the need for additional research, as this study is the first exploring video calling for parrots.
CNN —Several stars are vocalizing their support for TV and film writers. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is currently on strike as they seek better compensation and other concessions from studios and streamers. “Everything changed with streaming and everyone needs to be compensated for their work,” actress Amanda Seyfried told Variety on the red carpet. “Whatever I can do to support the guild,” Fallon said. "I think that in itself can be a bit of a red flag in a relationship," she says. Some signs you might be raising your partner include:You think their way of being is "not good enough," Bobby says. You can reframe this as an opportunity and ask your partner for more dates by describing how you feel.
Arizona Cardinals player J.J. Watt called out Chipotle for shrinking burrito sizes on Twitter. Some customers have been complaining about Chipotle's portion sizes for years. Pro-bowler and Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt tweeted Sunday "Burritos have been getting smaller…," writing that he wanted to "open dialogue" with Chipotle. "We want big burritos back," he wrote, adding hashtags including "Burrito justice," "Still hungry," and "This is supposedly double meat." If its portion sizes are getting smaller, Chipotle wouldn't be the only retailer to do so.
HR leaders like Rose say the law has been a long time coming: "This is the future of work. Salary transparency policies are overwhelmingly popular among workers, and economists say they're key to closing racial and gender wage gaps, made worse in part by basing workers' pay on previous earnings. It's fair to say HR is "not enthusiastic about new regulatory requirements" in general, he adds. 'Organizations are scrambling to decide what they want to share'The law not only guarantees pay transparency for job seekers coming into a company. Pay transparency in the future of work
