The Department of Justice should investigate four of the nation’s biggest operators of youth residential treatment facilities for civil rights violations and fraud, Sen. The report cites an internal Amazon document, titled "2021 Prime Day Lessons Learned," which states Amazon "met only 71.2 percent of its hiring target," between May and June of 2021, ending the week of that year's Prime Day event. Amazon has faced scrutiny in recent years over its workplace injury record and its treatment of warehouse and delivery workers.

However, we have a growing problem: Our unsung American heroes are worn out — and some are even leaving the disaster response workforce. Estimates of the depression rate among disaster response and rescue workers are as high as 53%, according to the National Center for PTSD. As citizens, we have a duty to conserve our vital and limited public safety resources, such as emergency management personnel. By minimizing non-essential requests, we enable our disaster responders to more swiftly and effectively act during ongoing crises. On our worst days, we need disaster responders at their best.

The legal battles have underscored the pervasiveness of domestic violence and the strains on existing support for survivors. To capture a snapshot of the experiences of domestic violence survivors, The New York Times observed some of the calls and messages the hotline received in one day. Congress approved creation of a national hotline dedicated to domestic violence in 1994, including it in the landmark Violence Against Women Act. Josie Slawik, who began working to support domestic violence survivors after she arrived at an El Paso shelter, was there when the hotline took its first call in 1996.

New York CNN —Since February, when Alabama’s Supreme Court declared frozen embryos are legally considered children, fertility clinics around the country have been weighing the implications of a political movement that’s suddenly turned hostile toward IVF. It could also threaten growth in the booming IVF market, which last year brought in an estimated $8 billion in revenue. IVF also took center stage last week at the Southern Baptist Convention, where church leaders effectively condemned the practice. I have never seen any religious or government guardrail ever stop fertility patients.
