"Forthcoming medications take the blockbuster GLP-1 medications and up the ante." Like semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy), it works on GLP-1, a hormone that regulates blood sugar and appetite. CagriSema adds it to the already-popular drug semaglutide, which itself helps manage hunger and blood sugar levels. "Longer-acting versions of GLP-1 medications offer the potential for greater convenience and potentially improved adherence and sustained use over time," McGowan said. “Social media is doing harm to our kids, and I’m calling time on it,” Albanese said at a news conference. A number of countries have already vowed to curb social media use by children through legislation, though Australia’s policy is one of the most stringent. No jurisdiction so far has tried using age-verification methods such as biometrics or government identification to enforce a social media age cut-off, two of the methods being trialed. Mick Tsickas / AP“The onus will be on social media platforms to demonstrate they are taking reasonable steps to prevent access,” Albanese said. Last year, France proposed a ban on social media for those under 15, though users were able to avoid the ban with parental consent.

Australia proposes ban on social media for children under 16

Shoppers use their phones as they walk past the entrance to a Myer department store, owned by Australia's biggest department store chain Myer Holdings Ltd, in Sydney, Australia, November 1, 2017. Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Thursday the government would legislate for a ban on social media for children under 16, a policy the government says is world-leading. Australia is trialing an age-verification system to assist in blocking children from accessing social media platforms, as part of a ban that could come into force as soon as the end of next year. "Social media is doing harm to our kids and I'm calling time on it," Albanese told a news conference. Albanese cited the risks to physical and mental health of children from excessive social media use, in particular the risks to girls from harmful depictions of body image, and misogynist content aimed at boys.

The agency granted a similar waiver for Amazon's Prime Air program in May, though that was limited to flights in College Station, Texas, one of the cities where it has been conducting tests. Alongside the FAA approval, Matt McCardle, head of regulatory affairs for Prime Air, said the company is starting to make drone deliveries Tuesday near Phoenix, Arizona. Prime Air encountered regulatory hurdles, missed deadlines and had layoffs last year, coinciding with widespread cost-cutting efforts by CEO Andy Jassy. In response, Amazon executives told residents the company would identify a new drone delivery launch site by October 2025. WATCH: How Amazon's drone delivery program stacks up to competitors

But now the organization is turning its attention (and its rats’ noses) to the global illegal wildlife trade. “Unfortunately, organized crime knows there’s a real weak spot in detection methods of ports, seaports and airports, particularly in Africa.”Traffickers disguise wildlife products in a whole host of ways, he explains. This is particularly important given that much of the illicit wildlife trade comes from some of the world’s poorest regions. “I’m hopeful that (using rats) for detecting wildlife will be a low cost, low impact, low footprint operation,” says Allan. The illegal wildlife trade not only impacts populations of the trafficked animal or plant, it can have devastating knock-on consequences for whole ecosystems.

To tackle the problem, American Airlines is trialing new technology at airports in New Mexico, Arizona and Virginia. Passengers who attempt to board before their assigned group is called will set off an error beep, alerting the gate agent — and also rule-abiding fellow passengers. Cesc Maymo | Getty Images News | Getty ImagesLONDON — Amazon Web Services (AWS), the U.S. e-commerce giant's cloud division, announced plans to invest £8 billion ($10.45 billion) over the next five years to build and operate data centers in the U.K. as it ramps up its cloud computing efforts in the country. "So this will go toward helping our customers to really be able to harness cloud computing, because you need the data centers to be able to actually provide cloud computing for our customers." AWS, along with other cloud players, has been investing heavily in infrastructure, such as data centers and Nvidia chips, in order to train and run AI models. AWS competes with Microsoft and Google in the U.K. and its investment continues the company's focus on expansion in Europe. AWS said this year it plans to invest 8.8 billion euros in existing cloud infrastructure in Germany.

India's biggest budget airline IndiGo has been trialing a booking feature that will allow women to avoid booking a seat next to men on flights. The feature, the first of its kind for an airline, works by showing female travelers a pink seat at the seat selection page if it will be occupied by a female passenger, a company representative told CNBC Travel. Travelers on IndiGo must identify their genders when they purchase tickets, which allows the airline to control access to these details, according to Indigo. However, IndiGo's website and mobile app did not show the feature when CNBC did a check. The new feature has received "positive individual reactions" on social media, IndiGo's CEO told CNBC's "Street Signs Asia" last week.

CNN —Two suits, two women, one message: “Hotties for Harris.” At least that was the phrase scrawled across banners at Kamala Harris’ campaign rally in Atlanta Tuesday night. Minutes later, Harris walked onto her podium to rapturous applause — also in a blue pantsuit. From being endorsed by Charli XCX and co-opting the album of the summer, “Brat,” to capitalizing on the 32.3 million-strong fandom of Megan Thee Stallion, her advisors have been honing in on the 18-27 demographic. Kamala Harris' icy blue suit seemed twinned in a way with Megan's cropped version. It’s hard to picture Clinton signing off on a decision to have Megan Thee Stallion “shake cheeks,” as one fan on Instagram wrote, in a cropped suit at a rally.
