Right now, the options market implies a about a $30 move in the stock price, higher or lower, by the end of this week. Rather than continuing to hold the stock, an investor looking for slightly less risk could use a stock substitution strategy through earnings. The trade: Stock substitution strategy A stock substitution strategy is an investment approach that uses options instead of directly holding shares of a stock. An options structure can also reduce the maximum potential loss if the underlying stock's price falls significantly.

Andrew Harnik | Getty ImagesPresident-elect Donald Trump's return to the White House is poised to have big impacts on consumer health care. CMS, in turn, administers the Affordable Care Act marketplace and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), among other endeavors. A spokesperson for Trump's transition team did not respond to a request from CNBC for comment about the President-elect's health policy plans. Still, it's a 'big' gamble to forgo health insurance Around 3.8 million people will lose their health insurance if the subsidies expire, the Congressional Budget Office estimates. Short-term health insurance plans offer coverage for limited amounts of time, and typically on fewer medical services than comprehensive coverage.

.SPX 1M mountain S & P 500, 1 month The S & P is still about 3-4% above levels where chart readers would start to get more concerned about the underlying trajectory. Even in Friday's 1.3% slide in the S & P 500, only two-thirds of all stocks were down on the day and the equal-weight S & P was off a modest three-quarters of a percent. It makes sense that the market wasn't able to summon a sustained thrust of exuberance after the election anxiety evaporated, given the somewhat demanding starting point. A more mature economic and risk cycle and vulnerability to higher rates among smaller, lower-quality stocks mean they aren't likely to lead from here, Pies says. Is the market presciently foretelling an unleashing of transactional fervor that will return Wall Steet's middlemen to their former glory?

AdvertisementI took a luxury river cruise through Vietnam and Cambodia with Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours. In fact, this year, the Royal Caribbean launched the world's largest cruise ship and announced that its next megaship of the same size would be setting sail next year. In September, I booked the smallest cruise I've experienced yet — a 68-passenger riverboat with Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours. After this intimate river cruise, I fear I'm now spoiled forever. "Look at which tax cuts were getting the most focus on the campaign trail. A traditional GOP tax policy might be thought of as favoring business tax cuts. Cancer drains individuals of their physical, emotional, and financial health. In a study from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, nearly half of cancer patients and survivors reported being extraordinarily burdened by medical debt. Financial hardship caused by cancer can also contribute to "financial toxicity," wherein the cost of treatment forces individuals to make tradeoffs that impact their chances of survival. Not only does financial toxicity of cancer care affect the individual, it can also negatively impact their employer. Some may not be aware they're eligible for screening, and stigma and fear associated with cancer screening hinders some people from seeking care.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts chose Shell to replace Steve Burke as NBCUniversal CEO in 2019. Soon, Shell, 59, will be at the helm of Paramount and paired with Ellison, who has already expressed his desire to transition Paramount into a more modern media company. The 10 p.m. hourAt Paramount, Shell will be given an asset mix similar to what he oversaw at NBCUniversal — save the theme parks. Wolf's shows were also significant moneymakers for NBCUniversal, according to a person familiar with the matter. Some media analysts, such as LightShed Partners' Rich Greenfield, have argued Paramount Global should shut down Paramount+ and instead license Paramount content to other streamers with more scale.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Monday explained why he's staying optimistic on Netflix , examining the bull and bear cases for the streamer by reviewing two recent analyst notes. Cramer compared reports from analysts at Barclays , who downgraded Netflix, and Piper Sandler , who upgraded the stock. According to the team at Barclays, Netflix may have trouble meeting its earnings goals, and the company's "growth algorithm will come with tradeoffs." And even if the streaming giant hits revenue targets, the analysts said Netflix's valuation assumes it can double its subscriber base, which "seems unrealistic." The analysts said Netflix can grow its subscriber base and has pricing power, adding that they're optimistic on the streamer's advertising potential.

Harris’ plan would boost the debt by $3.5 trillion over the next decade, while Trump’s platform would cause it to spike by $7.5 trillion, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget’s report, released Monday. It found that Harris’ measures could have no significant impact on the debt or could increase it by $8.1 trillion. And Trump’s proposals could balloon the debt by between $1.5 trillion and $15.2 trillion. These proposals would cost $2.3 trillion in total. But the committee estimates these tariffs would bring in between $2 trillion and $4.3 trillion over a decade — not enough to cover Trump’s agenda.

AdvertisementI think it's common for new college graduates to want to wait for their dream job or something they're passionate about to come along. That's not realistic and, in my experience, typically means their parents still have to support them. My dream job was to work for a popular Southern lifestyle magazine, but the job would have started as a six-month unpaid internship. Had my parents supported me through this, I wouldn't have become self-sufficient as quickly, and it wouldn't have set a great boundary. None of the country’s largest social media platforms responded to repeated questions from CNN over multiple days this week about what actions they have taken in response to misinformation and conspiracy theories circulating about the Trump rally shooting. And what the public experienced on social media in the moments after the attack on Trump is a sign of what’s to come, said Imran Ahmed, CEO of the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), a social media watchdog group that advocates for tighter regulation of the platforms. “It can’t make a safe social media product that does politics and civic stuff, and so it just got out of that business.”Baybars Orsek, managing director of the fact-checking organization Logically Facts, said these and other changes by social media platforms have made working with them in the last few years more challenging. The decision effectively means the US government can continue to flag misinformation threats to social media companies in the runup to the 2024 election. Mainstream media outlets, taking care to report only credible answers, were initially slower to report what was happening than the breakneck pace of social media speculation.

Muni bonds are beloved by wealthy investors because they offer income that's free of federal taxes. Muni bond ETFs and mutual funds, meanwhile, don't have a definite maturity date and their price can fluctuate while the investor is holding them. Liquidity needs are also a major factor, with individual bonds potentially being hard to sell if an investor has a cash need. Since these funds offer a fixed number of shares, they trade at a discount or premium to their net asset value. Some of these funds hold municipal bonds and are trading at sharp discounts to their net asset value, potentially making them an attractive purchase.

A key policy designed to create affordable housing for low-income people has long been scrutinized for being generally ineffective.
