New York CNN —Amazon is targeting retail rivals Shein, Temu and TikTok Shop with a new deeply discounted storefront that sells a wide array of products for $20 or less. Called “Amazon Haul,” the mobile-only experience debuted Wednesday in the Amazon app and has everything from fashion accessories to home goods, plus clothes and electronics. Amazon said in an announcement that a “majority” of the Haul items are under $10, with some even less than $1. However, the cheap prices come with a caveat that items can take one to two weeks to be delivered. Also, the store only accepts returns on items that are $3 or more.

New York CNN —If you took an American Airlines flight in the 1960s, you’d be wined and dined from the Coach-class “Royal Coachman” menu. “Meal service was once a point of pride,” said Henry Harteveldt, who covers the travel industry for Atmosphere Research Group. Meal service was a big focus of [competition] because entertainment options were more limited,” Harteveldt said. The September 11 attacks accelerated the decline of free airline meals. I used points from credit-card bonuses to travel first class on Emirates and had a luxurious flight. AdvertisementAfter years of low-budget traveling, my fiancé and I decided to use airline points and flew in Emirates first class from the Maldives to Dubai. Without miles, this first-class flight is usually about $3,000. I used to think flying first class was reserved for the wealthyFlying in Emirates first class was a luxurious experience for me. I wouldn't spend actual money on it, but redeeming our miles for this luxurious first-class experience felt like the best use of our points.

When Ava Friedmann and Michael Henein were married, they used a tablecloth from Ms. Friedmann’s grandmother as a huppah, or ritual canopy held above the couple in a Jewish wedding. That same braiding of their cultural traditions has steered them over the last three months, as they have talked about the Israel-Hamas war. They decided to read identical news sources about the war to help make sure they stayed on the same page. Many American Jews have reconsidered how they feel about Israel and even their own Jewish identity since the Oct. 7 attack, in which Israeli officials say Hamas militants killed roughly 1,200 people. Israel’s reprisal, a bombing campaign and invasion, has killed more than 26,000 people, Palestinian officials say.

CNN —After 26 years in business, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is closing due to costs becoming too expensive – for both customers and the restaurant operators. Deanes EIPIC, the flagship fine dining restaurant of an empire started by Northern Irish chef Michael Deane in the 1990s, won its first Michelin star within a year of opening as Deanes in 1997. ‘The cost has spiralled out of control’“EIPIC as a whole wasn’t a restaurant that was dying,” he says, but “people have an expectation when walking through the doors. EIPIC follows the classic fine-dining model upon which many a Michelin star has been earned throughout Europe and beyond. Says Greene, “people are willing to travel from the city or anywhere for good food and good accommodation.

"Indonesia is not an easy market to do business on your own," said Kim, adding that, beyond government sales, VKTR was in talks with large domestic businesses to sell BYD EV buses. TAKING ON TESLAThai EV buyers contributed 24% of BYD's overseas sales in the second quarter, making it the Chinese automaker's largest foreign market, according to Counterpoint, whereas fewer than 1% of Tesla's sales are in Southeast Asia. BYD's Southeast Asia playbook and its embrace of dealerships contrasts with Tesla, whose direct-to-consumer approach is hard to replicate, since no other new EV brand has its buzz or the outsized media presence of its CEO Elon Musk. Solo Per Due – “Just for Two” in Italian – is no ordinary restaurant, and not just because of its tiny size. Its owners claim it is the smallest fine-dining establishment not only in Italy but in the world, too. Guests are required to arrive at a specific time agreed by the owners, who prepare and serve the elaborate food. “This is not a restaurant – we offer a unique, intimate experience which is at the core of our decades-long reputation. Upon request, a private driver can be arranged to pick up guests, and fireworks can be staged in the garden.

The Corcoran Group founder told Bloomberg that she almost never flies first class. "Shark Tank" star Barbara Corcoran said she prefers not to waste money — or miles — upgrading to first class when she travels by plane, and she has some tips to make economy feel like royalty. Her travels typically accumulate hundreds of thousands of miles, and she told Bloomberg she believes they're better spent on family. Instead, she makes an effort to make economy class feel more luxurious by packing some extra amenities of her own to take on the plane. I bring my own delicious food: a couple of cheeses, usually hard salami, and really nice artisan crackers that aren't soggy," Corcoran told Bloomberg.
"I never saw myself as a speaker, let alone a motivational speaker," Leonard tells me while his assistant irons his jeans. 'When I ramble," Hunter told me, "hit me in the leg!" Every plane had been grounded, including the one stuck on the tarmac with an increasingly inebriated Hunter Thompson trapped inside. But by far the most all-consuming task was booking gigs for Hunter Thompson. Just before a debate with G. Gordon Liddy at Brown University, Hunter demanded that Betsy Berg, whom I now worked alongside at GTN, score him some crystal meth.

The Soniat House hotel in New Orleans, one of the properties Ken Fulk and Clark Lyda have taken over with their company InHouse. In 1903 turpentine magnate Robert Paterson and his wife, Marie Louise Paterson, moved into a new mansion in the Berkshires filled with art and antiques, on 130 wooded acres on the edge of Lenox, Massachusetts. They named their stately pile Blantyre, after a village in Scotland, Robert’s native country. Following Robert’s 1917 death, the palatial spread changed hands many times, passing in and out of bankruptcy as it became a country club, before emerging in the 1980s as a genteel resort famous for its encyclopedic wine cellar and ambitious white-tablecloth cooking. Though renovations over the years sapped some of the time-capsule splendor of the Paterson home, the historic bones of the building were still largely intact when designer Ken Fulk and property developer Clark Lyda purchased the hotel last year.
