WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter who was among the first rioters to breach the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has been convicted of plotting to kill FBI special agents who investigated him over his crimes at the Capitol. NBC News affiliate WBIR in Knoxville reported that the jury convicted Kelley on all three counts after just an hour of deliberation. Kelley will be sentenced in the murder plot case on May 7, one month after he is set to be sentenced on his Capitol case, on April 7. Kelley provided a list of about 37 members of law enforcement who worked on his Jan. 6 case, prosecutors alleged. Edward Kelley was the fourth rioter to breach the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

An Illinois woman is charged with hate crimes after allegedly attacking a man for wearing a Palestine hoodie at a suburban Chicago Panera Bread over the weekend. “Szustakiewicz was at the Panera Bread when she confronted and yelled expletives at a man regarding a sweatshirt he was wearing with the word Palestine written on it,” authorities said. DuPage CountySzustakiewicz allegedly committed a hate crime by “reason of perceived national origin” of the victims, the statement said. The woman then walks toward the woman holding the camera, and the man steps in between them, and pushes the woman, and both the man and the woman threaten to punch each other, according to the video. I was not able to do that simply because I was Palestinian.”The organization said the female victim was pregnant and called the suspect’s alleged behavior “shameful” and “abusive.”No one with Panera Bread was immediately reached for comment on Monday afternoon.

Las Vegas police are investigating after an officer fatally shot a 43-year-old father who had called 911 for help during a home break-in. Durham reported that he was inside the house with his 15-year-old daughter and he was going to lock himself in a bathroom, Koren told reporters Thursday. Boudreaux was arrested during the incident, Koren said. She appears to have had some relationship with Durham, Koren said, but police provided no clarity as to what that relationship might be. The officer’s use of force is being reviewed using the standard set by the Supreme Court’s decision in Graham v. Connor, Koren told reporters.

Rescuers in Yellowstone National Park searched the area of Eagle Peak on Sunday in an effort to find a park concession worker who failed to check in at the end of a personal trip, authorities said. The mountain rises 11,358 feet above sea level and is Yellowstone National Park's highest location, according to the service. The Tuesday phone call was the last anyone heard from King, the park service said. In the last three days, temperatures in Yellowstone National Park have bottomed out in the high 20s and struggled to break the 60-degree mark, according to National Weather Service data. The park service said King is 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, has hazel eyes and was wearing glasses, a black sweatshirt and gray pants.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with multiple hate crimes Monday after, police said, he yelled “Free Palestine” before he slashed a Jewish man in the torso near a synagogue in Brooklyn, New York. Police alleged that Vincent T. Sumpter, of Brooklyn, stabbed the 33-year-old man around 2 a.m. Saturday near the headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, a branch of Hasidic Judaism. A 33-year-old man was slashed in the attack in Crown Heights in Brooklyn on Friday. Crown Heights Shmira via X.comResidents chased the attacker and detained him until police arrived, he said. Riding the ‘new’ Chinese style waveFashion designers like Samuel Gui Yang, whose collections have long taken inspiration from Chinese heritage, are seeing more interest from mainland China turn to their brands due to the “new Chinese style” trend.
