Read previewIf your idea of Spain is eating paella, dancing flamenco, and improving your Spanish, Catalonia might surprise you. The main language in Catalonia is CatalanAlthough Spanish is the most common language and almost everyone is bilingual, Catalan is the main language outside Barcelona. Catalan paella is different from what you find in the rest of the country. Catalan paella is dark brown in color, much more seafood heavy, and never contains vegetables. You'll want to branch out into Catalan winesMany people think of rioja when they think of Spanish wine.

It’s called the Golden Garden Hospitality Experience, and it begins with door-to-door taxi service and a queue-free entrance. Go to any big sports event and you will find people having more rarefied experiences than you. The Summer Games in particular have long been known for the extravagant perks they dole out to dignitaries, corporate sponsors and other constituents of the Olympic-industrial complex. Such benefits used to be out of reach for most Olympics ticket holders. While third-party vendors have always offered luxury ticket packages, the deals came with some uncertainty because the sellers weren’t sanctioned by the Olympics.

Things like Broadway-style shows, multicourse meals, buffets, pool access, and onboard activities are built into the price of a typical sailing. I'm also willing to pay a little more to select a cabin far away from elevators and loud entertainment venues. Room service offers a level of convenience that makes the delivery fee palatableAlthough some room service options remain complimentary, many now come with an extra fee. However, room service often comes with an additional fee. We picked the wine store. Enlist helpYour best bet for getting a great bottle, Baker-Briggs says, is to have someone like him walking you through the aisles. And that's not a bad thing, provided you're looking at the right stuff. "No one making quality wine is putting those things on their label." However, that may mean the wine is mass produced and not the special bottle you're looking for.

For a food that begins with just flour, water or sometimes eggs, there are infinite variations of pasta. So what happens when you convene a panel of five Italian cuisine experts and ask them to determine the 25 most essential pasta dishes throughout Italy? The final picks appear below in unranked alphabetical order, along with the ideal wine to drink with each pasta dish, as recommended by the chosen restaurants and reviewed by Davies’s husband, the sommelier Marco Lami. This list is the latest in our T 25 series, which highlights significant achievements in the worlds of design, literature, fashion, architecture and food. We chose pasta because it’s the food most associated with Italy, and because it’s the subject of T’s new Travel issue.

I'm a sommelier in Italy, and there are a few wines to avoid ordering at bars and restaurants. If you're looking for a nice white, skip chardonnay and order a glass of Greek assyrtiko. After training and working as a sommelier in Italy, I pride myself on being able to find my clients their new favorite drink. But over the years, I've also learned which popular blends to steer clear of when I'm out and about. Here are some types of wine I never order and exciting alternatives I think everyone should be sipping on instead.

Olympic luxury packages are already on sale, offering exclusive access to the sporting spectacle, alongside very upscale travel and accommodation experiences. And this year, there’s no bigger sporting event than the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Tour operator Kensington Tours says it has two clients coming into Paris for the first seven nights of the Games. “Paris presents a wealth of opportunities for luxury travelers to indulge in during the Olympics,” Adto Teppa says. Pierre MonettaTo ensure their clients have access to Paris’ most prestigious hotels, many luxury travel advisers have made blanket bookings at properties across the city.

But his career and trajectory have always been defined by global experience, exposure and a passion for embracing other cultures and cuisines. Back in 2006, Australian Chef Shane Osborn of Hong Kong’s acclaimed Arcane hired Calvert to work at his two Michelin-starred Pied à Terre restaurant in London. The culinary Holy Grail of Paris followed, with a stint at Epicure, which like Per Se is also a three Michelin-starred restaurant. His global culinary journey continued with a move to Hong Kong and the contemporary Parisian bistro Belon, where he earned the restaurant a Michelin star and reached fourth place on the list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. Calvert is happy to modestly take the considerable accolade of the best restaurant in Asia with a pinch of salt, as it were.

CNN —After losing the number one spot to Bangkok in 2023, Tokyo has reclaimed its crown as the city with the top eatery in the region at the annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, which were announced in Seoul, South Korea on Tuesday evening. The list – part of the global “World’s 50 Best” brand – is compiled by the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, which is made up of more than 300 food critics, writers, chefs and restaurateurs, all selected for their knowledge of Asia’s restaurant scene. Though Singapore didn’t have any restaurants in the top five, nine of its venues made the top 50 list – more than any other city. Last week, Musk sued OpenAI and co-founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman for breach of contract and fiduciary duty. "It's certainly a good advertisement for the benefit of Elon Musk," Kevin O'Brien, partner at Ford O'Brien Landy LLP and former assistant U.S. attorney, told CNBC. In the suit, Musk's lawyers say they want OpenAI to return to its work as a research lab and no longer exist for the "financial benefit" of Microsoft. Musk's attorneys didn't respond to a request for comment. Musk has an AI company of his own, X.AI, which introduced a competing chatbot called Grok in November after two months of training.

More than 80 bottles of rare wine disappeared from the cellar of La Tour d’Argent, a renowned restaurant in Paris, according to a complaint filed last week that left investigators scrambling to find who was responsible. The stolen wine was worth an estimated 1.5 million euros ($1.6 million), the Paris prosecutor’s spokeswoman said in a statement. The third division of the Paris Judicial Police is overseeing the investigation. In 2011, robbers disabled security alarms and security cameras as they stole 400 cases of wine worth 1 million British pounds (about $1.6 million at the time) from a London warehouse. A decade later, the owners of a hotel and restaurant in Cáceres, Spain, reported that 45 bottles of wine worth 1.6 million euros (about $1.9 million in 2021) went missing from their cellar, including a bottle worth 350,000 euros (about $414,000 at the time).

THE WORLD IN A WINEGLASS: The Insider’s Guide to Artisanal, Sustainable, Extraordinary Wines to Drink Now, by Ray IsleWinery owners appear to lead charmed lives. So, too, do wine writers and critics, if their small talk and Instagram feeds can be believed. A lot of chateaus, grand vistas, infinity pools, delicate stemware and candlelit dinners in private rooms seem to be involved. Robert M. Parker Jr. changed wine criticism and wine sales in the 1980s by circumventing language altogether. Early in Ray Isle’s elephantine, hernia-inducing new guidebook, “The World in a Wineglass: The Insider’s Guide to Artisanal, Sustainable, Extraordinary Wines to Drink Now,” the author pauses to complain about the fruit-dependent tasting notes wine writers employ.

Dark RedsNot a particularly helpful designation as color in red wines can mean little. The assumption is that the darker the color the denser and more tannic the wine, but it’s not true. One exception with color: Young reds will be brighter while well-aged wines will seem duller and paler around the edges. It’s both the oldest method and newly fashionable, and produces somewhat simple wines that can be fresh and delicious. Last is the tank method, used for inexpensive sparkling wines produced in quantity, like Prosecco.

Maybe in a few decades from now, we’ll look back at all these seminal A.I. As two analysts at N.E.A., an investment firm, put it in a recent report, generative A.I. But with large language models, incumbents like Google and Microsoft have had a huge head start in both developing the technology and acquiring market share among consumers. Moreover, the capital-intensive nature of training large language models means that smaller companies like OpenAI and Anthropic creating their own large language models have few alternatives beyond making Faustian “partnerships” with tech giants. Beyond the incumbents, one beneficiary might well be the indie hacker, the kind of coder for hire who does niche A.I.
