One of the best bits of “Single Lady” sees her express naked condescension towards insecure male comedians and the younger women they make her babysit at various dinner parties. Wong’s fans already know the title of “Single Lady” is something of a misnomer. “Single Lady” is far from a how-to guide, but it’s a riveting testimonial.

I’m not sure I’d ever watched Donald Trump lie so incessantly, extravagantly and unabashedly, and that’s saying something. He lied about his relationship with the military, about his concern for the environment — about pretty much any and every subject that came up. But President Biden failed to take advantage of it. Biden, 81, came into his face-off with Trump knowing that many voters were concerned about his age and had doubts about his sharpness. And he and they spent much of the past week devoted to preparation, preparation, preparation, pausing occasionally to assure nervous Democrats that Biden had this thing under control.

One of my ironclad rules of journalism is this: When you see an elephant flying, don’t laugh, don’t doubt, don’t sneer — take notes. Something very new and important is happening and we need to understand it. Last week, I saw an elephant fly: The Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer — an authentic, lifelong supporter of Israel — gave a speech calling on Israelis to hold an election as soon as possible in order to dump Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right cabinet. And it produced predictable responses from the Jewish right (Schumer is a traitor), from Netanyahu (Israel is “not a banana republic”) and from cynics (Schumer’s just cozying up to the Democratic left). All predictable responses, and all wrong responses.

People on Weibo are relishing the chance to mock the US after a 50-car train derailed in Ohio. It's another example of inflammatory rhetoric that's left to simmer on China's version of Twitter. On Tuesday, four of the top 20 "hot searches" on Weibo, the Twitter of China, featured videos or news blog articles about the derailment. Widespread US media coverage and discussion of the Chinese balloon incensed Chinese state media and Weibo users.
