The stock trades at just 18x forward EPS, which is an 18% discount to the S & P 500 compared to an historical average of about a 24% premium. At about 17.3x forward EPS, we believe that patient investors could be well rewarded over time as investment spending continues. Looking ahead, these efforts should allow BDX to consistently achieve its long-term growth algorithm of mid-single-digit organic revenue growth and low-double-digit EPS growth. BDX shares currently trade at 15.4x forward EPS – a significant discount to both the S & P 500 and its Medtech peers. Shares trade at 27.5x forward EPS and a 16% discount to Mastercard, which seems unwarranted.

French Gates said she will donate $1 billion through 2026 to advance women’s rights around the world through her organization, Pivotal Ventures. French Gates will also give $250 million in awards to organizations working to help improve women’s mental and physical health. “I’m also experimenting with novel tactics to bring a wider range of perspectives into philanthropy,” French Gates wrote in her op-ed. In her op-ed, French Gates said she was once told to set her own agenda before someone else sets it — and that’s why she chose to leave the Gates Foundation. Just 2% of donations in the United States go to organizations focused on women and girls, French Gates noted.

Asked a double-edged question: "What can you do to make my Apple stock go up." On Friday, we had so many storylines going it is hard to get your head around Apple's Vision Pro launch and its import. Most of all, however, the customer satisfaction level allows him to experiment with something really radical: the Vision Pro. No one is buzzing about how Apple can't meet demand for the Vision Pro. People walk in an Apple store on the day the Vision Pro headset goes on sale in Los Angeles, Feb. 2, 2024.

They give the lie to the “Cease-Fire Now” mirage, or imposture, that has become a rallying cry at pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Why should it matter that it was Hamas that broke the cease-fire when Palestinian civilians are being killed in large numbers by Israeli bombs and bullets? As I write, there are reports that Hamas might release some hostages in exchange for a brief cease-fire. What about for Palestinians — women, children and noncombatant men for whom the calls for a cease-fire are supposedly intended? There are good intentions, if also ignorance and shortsightedness, among many of those demanding a cease-fire.

But the public’s leverage is weak, the political dynamics are complex and the alternatives are fewer than they used to be. The upshot was an enduring advantage for internet retailers over bricks-and-mortar stores. Adding insult to injury, the big internet retailers have taken great advantage of a communal resource. The real estate that Amazon and other vendors require to make their deliveries is not private but public. We faced a smaller version of this problem with the surge of urban lunch trucks a decade ago.

Employers are hardening demands for workers to return to the office and quashing resistance. Apple is tracking employee attendance and has threatened action against staff who don't work from the office at least three days a week. Today, though, as a recession looms, companies are rolling back perks and demanding workers return to their desks or risk termination. After 2020's COVID-19 lockdowns forced office workers to work from home, many of them discovered the benefits of remote work. Many of the same companies demanding workers return to the office have recently conducted mass layoffs — some more than once.
I was recently shown some frames from a film that I had never heard of: Alejandro Jodorowsky’s 1976 version of “Tron.” The sets were incredible. However, Mr. Jodorowsky, the visionary Chilean filmmaker, never tried to make “Tron.” I’m not even sure he knows what “Tron” is. caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption Generation Text prompt The A.I. caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption caption Generation Text prompt The A.I. There are no guarantees for a screen actor anymore. There are no guarantees for a screen actor’s audience. Perhaps that’s why we’ve turned, along with many an actor, to television, where the ground feels more fertile. There is enough outstanding work on television alone to fill a portfolio twice or three times the size of this one. We want to applaud, marvel at and salute the achievement of screen acting, the increasing miracle of it in challenging and confusing circumstances.
